About Painting Systems...

I recently bought a Game King handheld from a Hong Kong company, and the one they sent me is baby blue and quite ugly... I'm sure I won't play it all that much, but despite that (or perhaps because of that) I'm seriously considering painting the thing. However, since this is something that is meant to be handled, I obviously want it to be smooth and shiny and not rubbing off on my hands... so what kind of options do I have for paints and such? Anyone have any experience with something like this? Any advice for someone with no clue what they're doing?

First before anything you need paint. Go to a hobby bench and tell them what your gonna be sprayng and they will show you the primer & paint you will need to do the job. Then take apart the handheld, wet sand with 600 grit, clean it real good after its been sanded, let it dry for a while. Then when your ready spray a small coat of primer then a few good ones after a short period of time, Let dry till the next day then same thing with paint " light first coat then a few good ones". Then you should do a good clearcoat to top it off and keep it clean. After a day or two of drying and let adhear put it all back together and it should be good! Thats pretty much what ive been doing with my 64's and there turning out great. Good luck

Wouldn't vinyl dye be the best option for this? It dyes the plastic itself, so it doesn't look too glossy and doesn't come off on your hands.

This is an enamel spray painted base coat, with acrylic on top. If you're concerned about dings, give it 2 coats of a clear thin lacquor. This piece doesn't have any protection, and it's never been scratched. I have a watermelon panted game cube with 3 overcoats of laquor (japanese square watermelon), and an underwater/fish painted xbox with 25-30 coats. All were painted with acrylic, then laquored using thin coats from a spray paint can.

Thanks for the replies guys! That vinyl dye sounds like just what I need, I'll have to see if I can pick some up next time I get a chance. Since this is a machine that I don't expect to use all that often, I'm not overly concerned if it turns out kinda crummy... I also don't plan to paint anything crazy like that Master Chief (wow!), just solid colors.

I have a watermelon panted game cube with 3 overcoats of laquor (japanese square watermelon), and an underwater/fish painted xbox with 25-30 coats. All were painted with acrylic, then laquored using thin coats from a spray paint can.
Could you post a pic of your watermelon gamecube? That sounds pretty cool :D
