Damn that sucked. I feel like i've been raped by yet another corporation jumping on a latest bandwagon.

Their products might be ok, though (aside from the clothes.) Looks like they are introducing some retro handheld and some plug and play thingie. The Colecovision link is tease.

It does look odd, indeed. Sort of GAP advert with a Coleco logo stuck over it... It is also a shame that their 'head-to-head' video game system looks so ugly with those big buttons. Looks unusable too.
This is a shame, I wouldn't mind to own a 'portable' Coleco. I wish they would produce a tinny Coleco with a cartrige port...

:shameful: :shameful: :shameful:

My word...Even Atari, when reduced to nothing more than an intellectual property and bandied around from corporation to corporation, was shown more respect and dignity than this.

I can see a bunch of 27-year-olds freshly hired out of business school, all sitting in a conference room: "Let's whip up something in Flash. We'll and go for that gritty yet cheerful urban look. Call the agency round up some attractive multi-ethnic models. How can we work the word 'synergy' into this? Ha ha ha..."(/sips cappucino)

"It's about truth and honesty....window dressing sold by someone else..." and this is coming from a company that's doing nothing more than marketing a brand name. The irony is staggering, yes?

This is depressing. Think I'll go play some Montezuma's Revenge and clear the taste out of my mouth.

BTW it takes more than opposable thumbs to use a real Colecovision controller.

Someone did (well, it's not TINY but it's not a tank)... The Dina 2-in-1 and the Telegames Arcade (same basic thing, so glad Telegames exited the classic business I hate them.) It's a hell of a lot smaller than the CV and the controllers, while very cheap and poorly designed, work grudgingly better than the original CV controllers IMHO. I don't think you can use special controllers like the Turbo wheel, though.

It's got a built-in game AND a second slot for playing Sega-1000 games. Evidentally the connections were disabled for the SG1000 slot for some of the consoles but I hear that they are fairly easy to fix.

ROFL
That's the funniest thing I've seen a long while. "There's a little bit of Coleco in all of us"... lord, that's priceless.

"Window dressing sold separately. By someone else. But please purchase our clothes since we don't sell any products you're actually interested in."

Yo, checkitout, I'm gonna p1mp my skateboard with phat COLECO stikaz cuz I gots opposable thumbz y'all!

Hilarious.

Isn't Telegames still around? I also thought they still had the rights to some of those things.

Hopefully, they will NEVER come out with a CV Plug `N Play...EVER.

The Intellivision one was horrible enough. This would be even worse.

New Colecovision console on the way

Posted Nov 4th 2005 9:45AM by Vladimir Cole

Look out, Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo! Coleco, the company behind the Colecovision console of yesteryear, have promised that they're working on a new version of the console. No other details are available, so for now, don't get too excited. It's probably not what you think it is.

The Colecovision brand is now owned by Chicago-based River West Brands LLC, a company started in 2001 by former Kraft executive Paul Earle Jr. The company's business model is to revive dormant brands that still have a significant amount of mindshare. For instance, the company purchased the Nupriin name then released a new over-the-counter painkiller bearing the Nupriin name. That's what the company plans to do with the Colecovision relaunch.

In the words of the company's founder, "'Old' has become 'classic,' and classic has become cool. Unless hundreds of different marketers are all wrong, the conclusion must be that brand revival works" (source).

That means that we're not likely to see any major technical feat with the new Colecovision, whenever it comes out. It'll be a low-tech retro relaunch that appeals to fans of the original Colecovision. It may very well offer an authentic Colecovision experience, but don't expect a next-generation or HD experience and you won't be disappointed.

ShittyGames... er I mean TELEGAMES are indeed still around but they have gotten out of the classic gaming business and seem to be concentrating on developing and publishing mostly shit games for the GBA. They still advertise the never-released "Santa Clause Saves the Earth" for the PSone on their site. That should tell you something about how seriously they take gaming. Bunch of old f--ks.

I'm done now.

Yeah that flash was pretty sad. It really did nothing for what it was trying to get across. It only made a gamer like me sick to think that a beloved name like Coleco might be the next clothing line the teeneyboppers will be buying. @_@

But if it is a new console, then lets hope for the best.
