Speaking of Pong...

My uncle gave me a box he picked up for $3 at a flea market. It contained an Atari Super Pong, an Atari VCS - CX2600A, power adapter for the VCS, pair of "orange ring" joysticks, and an orange NES Zapper.

http://www.startoursinfo.com/junk/DP-Finds-05-01-06.jpg

The picture was taken after clean up, except for Super Pong as it's still being worked on.

The joysticks are severely worn but I got them working well enough. The problem wasn't with the little metal tab switches so much as it was the traces being worn off the circuit boards from usage. The VCS works fine, as does the Zapper after the usual disassembly and reassembly. Super Pong looked pretty good from the outside, no corrosion in the battery compartment, knobs and switches seem to work fine. However all it displays is a blank screen, no audio from the speaker, no nothing. I set up a thread in Technical and Restoration earlier before I really had a hard look at it. Now that I've spent some time going over the system I'd say that it got banged up pretty good internally at one point and someone tried to fix it. Looks to be missing a part, the left potentiometer is cracked (but the leads aren't broken) as someone attempted to open the unit with force, and so on.

Oh well, $3 for the box is great and it's a good "parts" Super Pong if anything. :)

We went to the annual High School yard sale at the gymnasium on Saturday and I got a complete CBS colecovision for $3.00! Also found a third party Gameboy carrier with 28 Game boy manuals in it for 50 cents. All the proceeds went to the school so I gave the lady 5 bucks.

OK, everyone, Pay Attention!

I Just Bought An Arcade Machine!!

Here it is, Rally X (Mini), In all it's glory!

http://www.fine-art-works.com/rx1.jpg

I paid $20 for it!

You can read about it here:

http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=979178#979178

Anyway, in other finds, Today i went into KMart to find Rampage: Total Destruction for Gamecube, walked out with Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door:

http://www.fine-art-works.com/papermario.jpg

Price, $20! Prices are going down on some Nintendo games, I also saw Warioware: Twisted in the bargain bin - $20. I wanted to buy it too, But i thought i should buy a GBASP first, So that remained there.

I also saw a boxed Super Nintendo with a couple games, But it was too expensive - $50? I said i could buy a gamecube for that price, But she wouldn't budge on the price, I said how about selling it without the games, I'll pay $30, She said no.

Thanks, ebay. (sarcasam)

Anyway, How do you think i did on the arcade machine? :)

Wow, I actually like Rally X!

I got 3 games, not the most expensive, but they are fun, for the SNES:
Doom
Goof Troop
Terminator 2

Total Price...(Dun Dun Duuuuun)
Free. I was gonna ask him about his SNES, hookups, 4 controllers, and Mario World, but I decided against it.

Absolutely beautiful, Slate. Rally-X is one of my favorite arcade games but it seems to be a backwater for a lot of people. :/ Never seen one go for within $200 of what you paid though, especially given the condition and documentation.

Tales of Destiny II Seal (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v679/suckerpunch5/100_1014.jpg)

i have no idea how to make the pics smaller. that is the lowest choice of resolution available on my camera. so, everyone will just have to enjoy the clickable links.

I figure I may as well talk about it now...

Started this past weekend off right by getting DDR Mario Mix (everything but the oversized box) for $40. I'm keeping it until circumstances demand otherwise... it's not a bad game at all.

Another interesting discovery over the weekend came from my grandmother... while she and my mom were out looking for Genesis power cords (I asked them to seek them out so I can sell the extra systems I have to a few friends), they found a NIB set of Dreamcast wireless controllers. These are 3rd party controllers made by Doc's, and they're not half bad in that they actually work.

Just for shits and giggles, I wrote up a mini-review and checked ebay to see how much one could expect to pay for them in the event that I couldn't get any more, and the ONE set sold in the last 3 months brought in over $100! @_@
I have the other sets waiting on me to pick up; one will be sold to benefit the choir at my grandmother's church, and the other two sets will be made available for trade.

I haven't posted my finds in awhile, so this is mostly the stuff I found in April.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y55/tbsJordan/textbox/wdf61406.jpg

1$ a thrift I hardly ever find anything at. Any POG find is a good find in my book.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y55/tbsJordan/textbox/fmf41506.jpg

Namco Plug 'n Play 4$ at one the fleas

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y55/tbsJordan/textbox/fmf42905.jpg

Muntant League Hockey 1$ at the main flea
Defender and Missle Command .59 cents each at the Salvantion Army. First time I've ever bought something at the SA, and let me tell ya, if things are that cheap I'll be coming back a lot more.

Now the biggie:

Atari 2600 Jr. system, AC adapter and another cord
SNES Controller
And 23 games:

Missle Commando
Volleyball
Kaboom!
Donkey Kong
Keystone Kapers
Crackpots
Space Jockey
Battlezone
Super Football
Mario Bros.
Dig Dug
Vanguard
Dodge 'em
Centipede
E.T.
Pac-Man x2
Pole Position
Space Attack
Asteroids
Moon Patrol
Journey Escape
Galaxian

Total cost? 5 bucks

Now I get to experiance Atari for the first time.

Funny thing the other week when I first saw this the console was marked 30$ and the games .75 cents each, didn't cost me near that

I'll just have to buy the rf switch thingy for it.

I sure hope it works.......

Here's some pics:

Freakin' awesome, man! Rally X is a fun game. :-P

Most do run that much and more, but you can find crazy good deals sometimes. I have a friend who picked up most of his small home arcade (7 or 8 machines) on the cheap like that. Found a Klax for $75 in the local classifieds, for one. He also got a Tetris machine *and* an original Pac Man cab for about $300 total. Of course, the guy *needed* the money (as in, somebody's going to break my legs if I don't have $300 dollars, TONIGHT LOL ) but hey, it's a good story. And kudos on the Rally X machine as well. Very nice.

As for me... absolutely nothing at the flea... manuals for Duck Tales 2 and Little Mermaid NES, $1. Woot.

LOL I knew that was coming. You know we all think it, for the longest time I was one of the few to actually say something about it. :P

Anyway...........

Decent day at the flea market. I found a Coleco Pac-Man tabletop with all the stickers present except for the one on the battery door. Open it up and ACID CITY! It was pretty well dried out so I asked how much, "$20." I got him down to $15 but I wasn't paying more than $10. I've bought them in that condition before and both times there was acid damage all the way up onto the VFD = unit shot. Oh well, I already have a Pac-Man mint anyway.

However the day was not lost, I found a plastic DDR platform for $10, seller wanted $15 but I talked them down pretty quickly. It has some wear but works alright as these go. Already has a slight bend in it and a couple of the screws on the back have had their plastic break around them but for $10 it's not bad at all. Still run $120 over at MyMyBox (http://www.mymybox.com/ddrmhd8.html). I'd never pay that but it's well worth $10.

Also bought a pair of NES games, 2 for $5 - the magic price. Donkey Kong Classics is for my girlfriend and the seller has had this copy of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (licensed) with the label damage for over a year. I never see it elsewhere so I figured I'd just grab it. Didn't really want it since it sucks ass compared to the arcade version but I'd rather have gotten it and Donkey Kong Classics for $5 instead of just Donkey Kong Classics for $3.

What's in the picture:
Saturn:
Space Jam, Grid Runner

N64:
Daikatana

SNES:
Star Trek Starfleet Academy

PS1:
Breath of Fire III, Oddworld Abe's Exoddus, Convert Ops Nuclear Dawn

I've been trying to collect for the Saturn a lot because it's been my favorite system since I got one a few years ago. I don't know much about those two games but I've already thrown a few minutes into them and it's quite fun. Grid Runner appears to be a REALLY good find! Feels solid. :) Space Jam is, well a basketball game with Looney Toons, so it speaks for itself (And I suck at B-ball games).
People on here talked about Daikatana awhile back so I figured since I found it I'd grab it. Sure why not, try it out! Currenty don't have my N64 hooked up but it'll be soon.
I once had this Star Trek game on the PC (Or one similar to the tons of StarTrek games) years ago and played the SNES version once at a friends house. Don't recall too much about it but should be a nice little adventure to see what's up all over again.
Already own Breath of Fire III so just getting the disc is alright. It's nice to now have a duplicate I can allow friends to borrow without grabbing my complete version. Heard a lot about the first Oddworld for years and been wanting to pick it up so *BOOM* got it now. It's like Heart of Darkness but a lot more complecated. Been confused already a few times in it. :) Don't know anything about Nuclear Dawn but it appears to be a Siphon Filter knock-off. I didn't want to spend lots of money to try it out so finally found a great cheap copy!

Oh, and lastely I picked these up at that pawn shop that does wierd pricing, so all games were $1 each. WERD!

i started another thread about some deals i got on ebay. they arrived today and i couldnt be happier with them.

the sega genesis and segacd (the original ones) were both in very nice shape. ive heard that the original segacd didnt last very long and got broke easily so i was holding my breath but it works flawlessly.
it came with four sega cd games , prince of persia, tomcat alley, formula one beyond limits, and the san diego zoo presents the animals. all in their original cases with inserts and manuals. the only one that had any scratches at all was the san diego zoo one.
also included were 8 sega genesis games, all in their case with manuals and look top notch. they were altered beast, desert strike, rayden trad, streets of rage, sonic 2, mortal kombat, eternal champions, and one ive never seen called wacky worlds creativity studio that comes with a 3 button mouse that plugs into the genesis.

all for $70 and that includes shipping.

i also got a dreamcast that included shenmue and grandia 2 as well as 4 or 5 others for $50 but was mostly excited about the genesis and segacd.

Tis what I've seen, heard, and everything else in the world. Quite personally I have to play a game for myself before agreeing with those conclusions. Thus far from what I've seen in screenshots it looks pretty fun, like the typical run around, FPS killing dudes everywhere while running through a maze to get to the end. I'll be setting up my N64 this weekend and then I'll be able to judge. :)

First thing I will address is that I realize this is a May finds thread; but out of all fairness some of this stuff is worthy of future insight (Campus Challenge Stuff) and it is not one month of finds but 6-8 months. Also I have not been posting in the monthly threads due to being busy at school (YAY! PITT) but never to busy to buy. So I hope you all forgive me, and we all can have a wonderful, eventful, and lucky sumer together. So here we go!!

Very interesting in my opinion. I have never seen anything relating to this event before. Apparently, from what I can gather, after the great success of the Nintendo World Championship Nintendo decided to strike at the heart of videogames, the college demographic. Here trips and great prizes were given away after competitions.

Well folks that is mostly everything that is interesting. You may be wondering why this is called "Happy Thread," well that is because there is a "Mike's Sad Thread" soon to come. I will give you a hint to the sadness, It involves my basement closet flooding. Sad...

But as for this stuff, please enjoy and give me insight to anything I may have had questions on.

Happy Gaming!!

Wow, icarwngs55, way to go! My recent find is somewhat related in the promotional sense.

Wow, this trash can has been in my room since I was three years old. I actually still have an early memory of buying it with my parents at Sear circa 1989. Need less to say, it caught my attention in this thread. I wonder how rare it is to find one these days.

Chavez II (cart/manual)

Very interesting in my opinion. I have never seen anything relating to this event before. Apparently, from what I can gather, after the great success of the Nintendo World Championship Nintendo decided to strike at the heart of videogames, the college demographic. Here trips and great prizes were given away after competitions.

Picked up a few NES games at Salvation Army today (they had a bunch, but I'm broke!)

2.99 each
Donkey Kong Classics
Arkanoid
Contra
Rescue Rangers
California Games

There really wasn't much else for really good games, but at least a couple I would have picked up if they had been half price or something.

Thanks guys! Any questions you have I will answer. As far as prices lets just say everything was very very cheap, know why, cause I am a cheap ass.

Also, no one quote to the whole thing it is kind of well long and unecessary. Just refer to the items, I will know what you mean.

icarwings55, Those are some awesome finds there.

I was wondering when the pictures would end..

Anyway, to my finds, 3 days ago:

http://www.fine-art-works.com/find5206.jpg

Awesome, right? Bought it all at a yard sale for $12!

I wasn't even looking for finds that day, I was really going for a bike ride on a trail!

But when i was coming home, i saw this yard sale sign, folowwed it, Saw all the games, Didn't think i'd be able to buy them all, But when he said 25 cents per game, I knew i'd be able to buy them all.

But my dad had to take my mom into town..!

So, i rushed by getting the bikes off the car when i got home so i'd be able to get all the games, And my dad dropped me off at the sale, wich is only, like, 100 yards away from home.

I go through the games, I'm buying them all, Except for all the current gen games and the SMB/DH carts.

My dad comes up, we buy the whole lot for $12, I also saw the guy's home theatre, He may just be a collecter himself considering all the game systems he has hooked up to hi's TV - N64, NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Xbox, PS2, Gamecube..

Here is a list of the games i bought:

zombies revenge-love this game and now i have it back.
chuchu rocket
sega rally championship

the 5th game is tnn mootorsports hardcore heat. i think the game is cool but it didnt score well with reviewers. anyway its harder to find than you may think.

Not video game related but oh well, the day had started out looking for videogames anyway but no such luck at my neighborhood yard sale, these people had no games at all. But anyway the finds.

2 Billy Joel songbooks(We Didn't Start the Fire + Piano Man) = $2, lady threw in some blacklight-responsive Doors posters too.

At another sale,

5 records = $1
Glass Houses - Billy Joel
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John
Don't Shoot Me I'm Just the Piano Player - Elton John
Bobby Vintons Greatest Hits - Bobby Vinton(duh)
God Bless the Flyers - various announcers and staff of the 73-74 Flyers organization(i have been looking for this, as I wanted to listen to it for a while)

Its a darn shame there were no games though, but in all not a bad day, except for when I was riding my bike home carrying all of this stuff and cut the back of my leg, it hurt.

It's been raining pretty much all day here so yard sales didn't pan out. Stopped by a couple of used games stores and got the following:

SNES:

Both loose.

But on the way home I saw something I wasn't expecting to see and just a block from my house no less:

I was very surpised to see a Countach in my town of only 2 to 3 thousand and let alone just a block from my house. I tried looking for the owner to see if could look at it closer but they weren't around. :(

Just to let you know that in the music forum we have threads for both latest records purchased and latest CDs purchased quite similar to this thread but for music, you should check it out and post there.

As i'm here I feel I should add something, so, in the last couple of weeks I've got the following, game related items:

Zoo Keeper - DS for only £12
Some Competition Pro DS styli, came in a pack of 3 and have a metal body and nicer tip than the official Nintendo ones, only got them because my other styli have dissapeared though.

Shenmue Original Sound Track 2CD - finally got my hands on one of these which isn't a pirate, it even is complete with spin and the little film strip negative! Shame that a non-pirate of the Orchestral sound track went for around double the price recently and i wasn't prepared to pay that much

My damn-close-to-100%-mint copy of the original NES 101 Top Loader finally arrived. Complete in box, with *all* packaging, manuals, bags, twist ties, you name it. The box shows some incredibly light surface wear, but nothing noticible. The console itself and the hook-ups look like they're literally never been used.

$70 shipped via a TERRIBLY DONE auction on ebay!!! Wrong category, badly misspelled title, zero feedback user. He took a while to ship, but it was absolutely worth the wait. I already have one of these, so I guess this is either to resell on ebay or to a friend in need of a great system.

I also picked up around 50 NES and '80s PC games from this one amazing thrift store in my area for basically nothing (under $1/game), but I need to take some pics and figure out what some of this stuff is (some of the PC games are pretty obscure).
