Arasoi

Unfortunetely not, the only part that was missing. Not sealed either, but at least unworn.

On another note, I won this auction today:

http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n41503477

I checked around, a lower end laserdisc player would cost me maybe 20-30 bucks, so I should be able to rip the analog signal from the disc with a video capture card, and get it internet prepped in virtualdub. Fun fun..

Wow, dude, that's awesome. I hope it's not like the Superplay included in the PS2 port of Haunted Castle. I heard it isn't even a full run through the game! LOL

Tell me about it, the Oretachi superplays are a joke, in so many ways. This LD runs about an hour and 15 minutes, so hopefully its quality superplay material.

My bad, when you said "Stage" I was thinking of the OST...

BGM 16 of CastleVania Bloodlines is a hidden track, it is a remix of "Vampire Killer". This is a random track of the three played, which is unlocked via an easter egg trick.

To get Classic Music from older Castlevania games, go to the options menu before you start the game and set the sound effect to 73 and the music to 5. Play both. You'll hear a chime to confirm it worked. Now, when you get the 3rd weapon upgrade, you will hear either Vampire Killer, Bloody Tears, or Beginnings remixes from the first three CV games on NES

Supervision was the "premier" NES pirate so to speak, the only that came in boxes. They are one of the primary reasons Nintendo was so hard on piracy. One of the rarer companies to release a lot of 72 pin pirates too.

No. Gradius II did use a custom mapper (like most everything Konami made for the Famicom), but it did not use the VRC6 for enhanced sound.

MarioMania:

I don't know if that will work. I doubt it, since none of the VRC chip games I have tried work correctly through a 72 pin adapter.

Anyway,

I checked out the Japanese LOI Promo DVD, it had all of the commercials with Sonim, and some other commercials with her talking in the costume as well as the standard Japanese LOI commercial all looped for display in a Japanese store. Pretty interesting, Ill see about ripping it.

I like castlevania but I am not a collector of the series but I have a question. Do you think that they are putting out too many castlevanias one right after another.

I remember releases were real far apart now it seems like one every 8 months. Just curious.

Arasoi
10-28-2006, 06:39 PM
Good question.

I believe it depends on the quality of the games themselves, though recently we've gotten quite a slew due to both console and handheld releases simultaneously (despite different design teams for the most part)

Dawn of Sorrow would have benefited from more development time I believe, though it was still a very good game. From what I understand Portrait of Ruin and Dawn of Sorrow were at times in development at the same time, and from the looks of it Portrait of Ruin got a lot more attention overall.

The quality of the games being released is definetely up to snuff, but I definetely wouldnt mind a console game given more time before release, I think both Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness both could have used some more polish and bonuses.

Perhaps someone here can answer this.... Does anybody remember the canceled game, Castlevania: Ressurrection for Dreamcast? A couple months ago I remember hearing that a prototype had gone for a nice chunk of change on e-bay. Has there been a leak yet like there was for Half-Life and Propellar Arena for DC? I still really want to play this game. :(

Arasoi
11-15-2006, 09:48 PM
It has not been leaked, no. But from what I understand about it, it was not a very enjoyable game to play at the state of development it was in.

Two days ago I beat Castlevania DoS after nearly 13hrs of playing. I was level 52 and did a lot of soul collecting before getting to the end but I got the crappy ending so I've been putting some more time into it collecting more souls, unlocking new areas I couldn't go before or didn't know about. It's really just growing more on me and although it does get quite repetative it's just fun to level up and feels great when you finally randomly get a soul from a rarity 3 monster. I pushed myself to finish the game (playing it at my desk at work and between classes) so I would be ready for the sequal comming out in another week. Of course I preordered it on GameStop's website and hope to get all those goodies. I'd suggest all DS owners looking for a 2D hack and slash game with a RPG style to pick it up and I have no doubt the sequal will be badass too.

I can't seem to find it on Ebay or any site I check, the only thing I find is the Portrait of Ruin Pre-order bonus. Anyone wanna give me an idea on if that was a great buy?

Arasoi
12-13-2006, 06:58 PM
If I understand correctly the book you are talking about, it came with the Japanese and European SOTN/NITM PSX special edition and is a CD pamphlet sized book with all of Kojima's art. 30 dollars is a little steep just for that book, and that's probably as much as you could sell it for on Ebay or such.

It's still a nice little book to have though, one of the better CV art books that have been released (as compared to the PoR and AoS bonus artbooks).
