Huzzah! The sale was in full force at my local Circuit City last night but no one knew about it! I was able to pick up Final Fantasy IV and Dr. Mario/Puzzle league for $18.

As I go to the cash register Im hoping that the sale is still on, hiding my extreme tenseness (due to the fact that I really wanted some good deals) with my mirrored aviators.

The attractive saleswoman rings them up.

"Huh? only $18 for the both of them?"

She scans once more with the same results.

"Youre having an unadvertised sale."

"We are?"

"Yes."

As I take my bag and sign my reciept she says with a smile:

"You know what youre doing dont you?"

"Yes I do" I say with a smirkish smile "You have a nice evening"

"Thanks, I will!"

I must admit, its fun to be faux cocky at times.

I went there today and poked around. Bought Xenosaga 2, Wild Arms 4, and Curse of Darkness. Whee!

I went to CC today, it was a long drive to get there, but worthwhile. I’d really cleaned up the last few years of these clearance sales. In fact, I got so many games the last time that some are still unopened. So I decided to keep it under $100.00 this year.

I highlighted ten games I was going to look for and came home with five. Of the five only the top three were from my ‘must have‘ list:

Tales of Phantasia (GBA)
Haunting Ground (PS2)
Castlevania Curse of Darkness (XBOX)
Gauntlet Seven Sorrows (XBOX)
From Russia with Love (GCN)

Was really wanting:

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (GCN)*
Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith (DS)
We Love Katamari (PS2)
And 4 other GBA games that aren’t really a priority.

*While they had Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (GCN) it rang up for $29.99.

If anyone has a spare of one those three, I will gladly trade evenly for my Gauntlet Seven Sorrows (XBOX). Just drop me a PM.

I couldn't find Kotor II, Time Crisis, Radiata Stories or the Warriors. I really wanted the Warriors and NO ONE had it. They did not want to come out and play apparently. A guy on CAG lives out in Tucson, AZ and said they had a ton of Kotor and Warriors out there, so maybe I'll try hitting him up.

Awesome sale! Hopefully we'll see some TRU action down the line.

I went in there without any sort of list, hoping to grab a couple of Xbox titles. The only one I KNEW was on sale was the Halo Triple pack. They didn't have any of that unfortunately, but I DID snag Indigo Prophecy and Castlevania after a price check. Worth the trip for those two alone. 8-)

Thanks for the heads up! I went on Friday to two CCs, and got pretty much I wanted. If you see Marc Ecko's Getting Up, fo all sakes pick up the Limited Edition. It is a silvery tin case (three times as thick as a normal case), and goes usually for $50.

I'm enjoying mine quite a bit! The first "intro" fight is ridiculously difficult, and it has a few odd peculiarities, but overall I'm finding it quite enjoyable.

Not to derail the thread, but I'm going to have to back FantasiaWHT up on this one. I recently picked it up and am having an absolute blast with it too. The art is great (for the land levels anyway) and the story is well written. Once you get past the intro level it really picks up (not to mention you're able to hold down 'B' at that point to move faster both on foot and during flight).

This CC sale was/is good but the $5.00 sale from 2 years ago was unbelivable.

Combined with when Hastings was accepting pretty much anything with their trade 4 get 1 deal, I was swimming in games.

I augemented my PS2 collection by at least 150 games over the course of that sale, not to mention GBA, Cube, and Xbox.

Here's hoping we'll get another one like that before this generation has completely wrapped up.

For me I have never seen this many class a titled games with /gun/mic/camera on sale this cheap ever. I can't remember the 5.00 sale how was the game selection.

All cheap sales before this one for me had games that cheap were bargin bin games. Never games of this caliber.

For me this is the best one I have seen come down the pike in many moons.


On another note. Anyone suprised by any of the games that you have picked up. Good or bad.

I went to 2 different CC's in Memphis the last 2 days with a friend of mine. Picked up about 30 or so games combined. Until today, the CC's here didn't even know there was a sale on them and was trying to give us a hard time. Almost all the games on the list did price at 8.96 but a few didn't. One of the stores started pulling the games off the shelves saying that they were not supposed to be on sale until July 2nd.

The list was probably 300 titles long. It covered everything from the beginning of the systems life spans to about 2003.

Some highlights from the sale for me were Gitaroo Man (before the reprint), Rez (before the reprint), Futurama (Xbox & PS2), Everblue 2, Gradius III & IV, ICO, and lots of others.

The big thing for me at the time was Hastings as they had a deal where you could trade in any 4 games (and they were taking anything, even sports games) to get any 1 new game of your choice. I fired up World Tour Soccer 2006 for the PS2 last night. Now most of the reviews have been dreadful for this game but I'm not a huge soccer fan and I just wanted to have a quick match or two.

I used Brazil :evil: and gave the CPU some shit team like Panama or something.

Fun game. I've never played winning eleven or the fifa series so I don't have anything to compare it to. But for a casual fan there is some fun to be had.

Wow...I'm glad I picked up FFIV the first day. I've been wanting one forever and it rang up at 8.96 the day GAC posted only gba and DS stuff. I may do one final run today...I never noticed Far Cry was on there which I'd seen, and I'd still love to find the Warriors of Kotor II.

I went back to my CC yesterday to pick up a few I had missed. When I walked in I overheard one of the sales guys telling someone (who was obviously disappointed) that the sale was starting on the 4th and to come back then. They'd pulled all the games off the shelves. Just as I was walking away I saw one of the guys throw a game to his co-worker and say "scan this". Apparently.. they don't even have a list yet. The games I wanted were nowhere to be found.. and they had at least five copies of Sigma Star the day before.. so something was going on. Poor bastards.. had to scan a copy of each game they had on the shelves to see what was supposed to be on sale. Maybe I shoulda' directed them to CAG... nah.

Figure I'll post my experience yesterday... went to a local Circuit City, and everything was pretty much picked over/pulled (not sure which, but the shelves were looking pretty bare either way). Actually, I'll guess that most of the stuff was pulled, the shelves were just so empty and I don't think that Circuit City really sells that many games. Anyways, I did manage to locate a Mario vs. Donkey Kong, which did ring up for 8.96.

Also, I don't see what all the confusion is over FF IV Advance, it's 19.99 this week, says so right in the weekly flier. So while there was hardly anything there, I still managed to get FF IV Advance on sale, and Mario vs. Donkey Kong for 8.96, which is nothing to sneeze at.

There were plenty of new titles put out that I definately did not miss my few times threw earlier in the week.

Don't feel bad, the one near me had junk. All i wanted was "Metal Slug 4+5" or possibly "Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows" for XBox and all i saw was dirt common junk.

In the newest ad that I saw in the Sunday paper, they had the Xbox 360 logo in the ad about the sale for the $8.96 games or whatever that was. Isn't that false advertising? I can pretty much guarantee they aren't selling any 360 games for $8.96

When I went there, a lot of the real good titles had been sold out, I went to about 3 different CC to get the games I was really looking for. Its worth a shot, but chances are its going to be the left overs.

Still going. I got the last copy of Half Life 2 for Xbox yesterday. I'm playing it on the 360. It seems to run choppy at times, and I've encountered bugs with interacting with objects, getting stuck and slowly dying. But for $9, I'll put up with it.
