http://img.gamespot.com/gamespot/images/2006/179/reviews/928326_20060629_screen042.jpg

I know it has to be from game and I know its called a Cabun(SP?) head. :embarrassed:

Edit: Ok now that is out of the way. How do you guys feel about this game? Do you see yourself playing through it more then 1 time?

Yep. Servbot also showed up as a playable character in Marvel vs Capcom 2. The name in Japanese is Kobun.

Zombies? 200 Weapons? Insane carnage? Oh yeah this could be one for the ages and the branching story only further increases replayability. I'll be playing it a lot.

I'm pretty sure that I'm either going to love or hate this game. I don't think there is going to be any middle ground. On one hand, it could be incredibly fun and entertaining, and on the other hand, it could get incredibly boring and monotonous. I saw that some other dude was worried it could be another State of Emergency, a game that seems cool in theory, but ultimately didn't work.

When I first saw a pic of this game, I thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. The pic was of the dude standing on top of a van or delivery truck or something in the parking garage, and there was like 2,000 zombies swarming around him. That just looked so freaking cool to me. But at the time, I didn't know that the game was pretty much focused on just a mall. I thought it was going to be going through an entire zombie town. If it's just a mall, I'm thinking that could get kinda monotonous. Hopefully not.

I downloaded the video from Xbox Live, and I'm still a little torn. It looks like a lot of fun, but even with all the weapons available, it seems like it would get repetitive. However, the video didn't show anything of the actual storyline, or any of what you do other than killin' zombies, so hopefully there's actually a game in there somewhere.

Does it seem strange to anyone else that Capcom potentially has TWO unrelated zombie franchises on their hands now?

Well, only in that both are "realistic" (in different ways).

Anyway, did anybody get to see a video of the first ten minutes of gameplay? Wow!

I don't know if it's the same video other people here are thinking of, but yeah, there's a video of Dead Rising in the XBL Marketplace. It basically just shows the main character killing zombies with many many different weapons.

I am excited for this one as well, as I like games that are very basic and not very complicated. Killing Zombies with multiple weapons and placing servbots and cones on their heads sounds like a good time to me!

I'm with you guys on this one - I can't friggin' wait for this. Capcom really do have an awesome line-up this fall!

It is a shame about the lack of multiplayer, though. I wasn't aware of this. It really seems like a missed opportunity to expand the genre. It was just screaming for some co-op or, at the very least, a little deathmatch.

Still, the sheer variety of attacks and weaponry is quite impressive. Most games akin to Dead Rising suffer from repetiveness very early on, but Capcom seem to be taking the necessary steps to rectify this.

This game has me on the edge of whether to buy a 360 now or wait until Half-Life 2. And my god I'm trying so hard to wait.

The more videos I see, the more I want it!

I just don't know if I'll be able to enjoy it without an HD TV.

If I decide to make the jump to 360 now, it will be before Saturday. (Kmart Rewards Program. $40 free is $40 free. If you are thinking of buying anything big, check your local Kmart before Saturday. $5 for every $50 spent. Just FYI. And yes, Xbox 360's count. As do TV's.)

I don't know for sure yet. But I really need to make up my mind soon.

This kinda sucks because I wasn't expecting to get a 360 until at least January 2007. Sucks in a good way I guess. @_@

Edit: Oh bloody hell, I just watched the 3 minute trailer. I'm now 99% sure I'll have a 360 by Saturday. (That'll make it two 360's in this house this week! And not an HD set in sight.)

No worries. I bought mine a week ago and even without HD it is absolutely amazing. I still just stop in the middle of games just to look around and enjoy the high rez graphics.

I'll be getting HDTV in December anyways then it'll be that much better.

Yay! There is a new preview over on GameSpot! I've quoted below the concluding paragraph, which sums up their time spent with near-final code...

What's clear to us at this point is that, regardless that the story missions are now mandatory, Dead Rising is a game that promises to have plenty of replay value. Our experiences with the game thus far have never been the same twice, and regardless of whether you're in the middle of a mission or not, you still have the freedom to just play around and have fun with zombies if you prefer. We've thoroughly enjoyed our time with Dead Rising, and we look forward to bringing you a full review closer to the game's release.

Man, I really hope that this lives up to our expectations. Sure, something solid would suffice, but I think we're all hoping for something spectacular. It also sounds like Capcom have made some last minute changes to the way the game plays.

Check it out here (http://uk.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/deadrising/news.html?sid=6154629&mode=previews).

Dead Rising will totally rocks, but the demo was sooooo short, whenever you'll enter certain part of the mall and you see loading screen, all you've gotta see is the short cutscene and you're backed up to the main title, which extremely sucks.
also before I played this demo I thought we'll have sorta funny, hillarious action packed game filled with zombies, and we sure got that - but its more serious than I thought it would be, the atmosphere is sorta eerie(this weird relaxing music playing in the background), so the nature of the game is much darker than one could expect - I'm very impressed with the game and I will get it the very first day.

Jasoco

Sounds like I should get a 360 just for this game.....?I did! AND A HIGH DEFINITION TV! 32"! Just for THIS GAME!

This game cost me $1,653.57.

http://www.jasoco.net/images/news/060731.jpg

Oh, and the $10 a month to rent the HD DVR Comcast box. Oh, and $14.99 for a PS2 Component cable, $9.99 for a universal S-Video cable for my PS2 and Cube. (Not going to spend a bundle on a Component cable for my Cube this close to the Wii.)

Yes. This game is expensive and well worth it. (Since it also prepared me for the future. If not for this game I'd probably still have an SDTV for another two years. Missing out on so much!)

Was it worth it? Well, David Letterman, Conan O'brien, Earl Hickey and the Office say yes.

So bottom line, if you can get access to a 360 that already has the demo, play it. Then decide. But yes, you should get one just for this game.

I particularly LOVE the darkness of it. That eery background elevator music especially makes it all the more hilarious when you change into a 10 year old boy's shorts, a horses head helmet, throw a pie in a zombie's face, then take a picture.

This is the most fun I've had on a game since.... well.....ever really, and it's just a demo! Roll on September (damn stupid delay for us in the UK)

I plaed the demo on my brothers Xbox 360 on his crappy (My old crappy) flat 27" SDTV.

I didn't want to play it at first because I didn't want to ruin it for myself.

But I tried it and loved it. Tonight I may have to hook up LIVE and download it to my 360 to play the demo in HD.

Anyone know if the weird pop-in (Stores look empty with empty shelves until you get slose to them) in the full game? I ran to a CD store and the CD's didn't appear on the shelves until I was 10 feet from it. Happened a few times in other places. Not that it really ruins the game, just the realism.

Jasoco - welcome to the wonderful world of Hi-def!

And I thought my gaming area was a mess! :D

Anyway - after I figured out what the hell I was supposed to be doing, I really started enjoying the demo.

My only complaint would be this - In a game demo, don't just plop people in a situation and expect them to know what to do right away. It took me forever to figure out where the hell I was supposed to go.

I will definitely be buying this game, though. My favorite weapon, thus far, would have to be the clothes hanger.

Finally tried the demo tonite, and while the game is pretty damn cool, this is just the type of game that makes me glad I have a long term rental plan. Certain things about the game are really cool, but ultimately, you are just running around in a Mall doing the same old thing, of course, I haven't gotten used to the controls, and I'm fumbling around trying to take pictures and throw things at zombies, etc, etc.

I definitely want to rent this game right away, and I'll probably have it in my possession for a few months, but I don't think this is the kinda game I would like to spend $65 on. Maybe it's just a matter of me figuring out the controls and trying everything that can be done within the game universe. Don't get it twisted, I'm not saying that the game is bad at all, or lackluster, or anything like that, it's just that I'm wondering if the variety in weapons and methods of killing is going to be enough to get over the monotony of doing basically the same thing over and over and over. I'm guessing it will be a really fun romp through the game on it's first run through the game, but after that, I probably won't have the desire to keep playing it.

You can throw CD's at them until they fall over. Hilarious. And the squirt gun just makes them all wet and confused.

I'm downloading it onto my 360 right now. Can't wait to see it in HD! Also downloading some other demos. I just signed up for LIVE to get this. Silver first, but with a Gold free month. I'll decide if it's worth the $50 next month. (I had a LIVE account on my old Xbox that I never used! So I cancelled it. Hopefully this new 360 LIVE will be more useful.)

I haven't gotten used to the controls, and I'm fumbling around trying to take pictures and throw things at zombies, etc, etc.

I was the same, Anthony1. The game throws a dozen, or so, controls at you, explained during a short loading screen.

And then, you're thrust straight into the action! And you haven't a clue what button does what! And then you somehow pick-up a weapon... and it gives you more controls!

It was a bit overwhelming, but I've got the hang of it now.

Jasoco
08-06-2006, 04:51 PM
Well, to be fair, when you get close to an object you can interact with an arrow with a button of the color you need to press shows up. Like a red B or a yellow Y, blue X etc...

I'll have to play with the camera controls though. At least Dead Rising lets me customize the controls in the demo. N3 doesn't. :/

Warning: This post contains mild profanity

Damn, slap me upside the freaking head!!! I must have been high when I wrote that or something, cause this freaking game TOTALLY ROCKS!!!! Man, it's just a case of needing to learn the controls, and understand how the gameplay works. FUCKING GENIUS!!! This is one sick and twisted game, and so much of an absolute blast to play! I'm absolutely loving it, and can't wait to get the full game. August is going to go down as a very enjoyable gaming month for us Next-Gen early adopters. No question 'bout that.

I will say that the controls aren't exactly intuitive, and are kinda a pain in the ass to get used to. It shouldn't be that difficult to pick up something and throw it at somebody, but once you get the hang of it, it's fucking ridiculous.
