I recently got a 3DO again, and I've been replaying Star Control 2 as I only played it first on the PC... and it really deserves a sequel (all memory of Star Control 3 has been painfully wiped from my brain). The game was fun and original in a lot of ways... love the music too.
However, there is a part of me that thinks that Star Control 2 was a rare thing of beauty--something that can't be re-created, so I don't know if a sequel would do it justice.
Honorable mention goes to Maniac Mansion.

I'm still waiting for a true sequel to Pitfall. The games (Super Pitfall, 3D, etc) are crap that doesn't deserve the name Pitfall.

Sam & Max Hit the Road needs a sequel.
Q1, 2004
From Lucasarts:
SAM & MAX TO HIT THE ROAD (AND OTHERS) IN LONG AWAITED CLASSIC ADVENTURE SEQUEL FROM LUCASARTS
Popular Madcap Dog and Rabbity Thing to Return for More Hilariously Skewed Adventures First Quarter 2004 on Windows PC
SAN RAFAEL, Calif. -- August 27, 2002 -- Sam & Max, interactive entertainment's most beloved canine and rabbit combo, hit the road again first quarter 2004 in a long awaited adventure comedy sequel for Windows PC from LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC. The follow up to the critically acclaimed 1993 adventure classic Sam & Max Hit the RoadŽ will dispatch the Freelance Police into a wild world of screwy and vaguely quixotic missions. Each one will be jam packed with nerve-jangling action, brain-busting puzzles, and the kind of easygoing banter one might expect from a talking dog and a naked, hyperkinetic bunny.
Sam & Max are based upon the "Sam & Max Freelance Police" comic book series created by Steve Purcell. LucasArts' Michael Stemmle, co-director of the award-winning original game, will direct the sequel.
"Sam & Max Hit the Road is a classic and as close to being a signature game as any LucasArts has ever done," says Simon Jeffery, president of LucasArts. "The Sam & Max sequel, much like the recently announced Full ThrottleŽ II, perfectly complements LucasArts' renowned adventure game legacy and lends further support to the company's commitment to investing in and developing more of our original properties."

Dude, kick ass!
Max rules. The short-lived Sam & Max cartoon was funny too.

Star Control already has two sequels, though those may be PC only.

Yep I played through 2 on 3do and 3 on pc.
3 wasnt bad but 2 was amazing.
Maniac mansion id love to see what could be done with that on a current system.
But seeing as Halflife has never been absent from my hard drive for going on 4 or so years. The graphics are still good and the storyline and playability is unmatched.
Of course Opposing Force and Blue shift are excellent as well and the Blue shift graphics upgrade helps alot.
I always feel bad for the scientist hanging in the elevator shaft... some day Ill save him before he slips and falls to his death.
And who can forget the moment you made it to the upper levels of the research labs... Bloodied in battle and have seen such horrible things happen to colleagues you were powerless to stop.
At last the military is here to save us.
And your colleague runs down the stairs "thank god you are here!" he shouts with exhausted relief and the smile fades from his face as they raise their weapons and gun him down... They arent here to save us.. they are here to kill the survivors to silence what has happened here......

Yeah, playing HF and getting up to when the military is there to "save you" shocked me...
Think Maniac Mansion would work as a first-person adventure title?

Either I've gone through a time warp - and I apologize if I have and let things get a little unruly around here for the past year - or Cheese is having some fun with us.

Star Control 2 REALLY needs a nice sequel. 3 was so piss poor it's not even funny (although I still have it anyway). I mean seriously...how many games can you....oh wait...that's a spoiler :) Just suffice it to say that's it's erotic and cool.
