A couple months ago, I was told by a friend that I could use a Japanese GameCube keyboard to write letters in Animal Crossing and save a HECK of a lot of time and energy. Since I trusted him (:) ) and was planning on getting PSO when it came out anyway, I figured, okay, worth it.
Went to EBay, got a good deal on one from a buyer in Hong Kong, and paid $100 for it with another $20 on shipping to the USA. Mint condition box, worked very well -- only not for Animal Crossing. Then I rented PSO and did'nt like it. Whoops!
Okay, I thought, I bought the thing on EBay, I can sell it back there. So I put it on there, figuring I could make a small profit on it (or would be happy at least breaking even) since there really were not any domestic ones available yet. (the keyboard had English characters on it)
Most of the week auction saw bids slowly going from $100 up to about 150. Imagine my surprise when I signed in to check a couple hours before the auction ended (I had'nt checked for a day) and saw a high bid of $300!
@_@
Needless to say, I was'nt going to talk the guy out of it. :) So I got $300 plus $10 to ship it by Priorty Mail (the least I could do was buy a custom box for it) and whistled all the way to the bank. LOL
