ZX-80 in Retro Gamer....this cant be right

alright i was checking out an issue of retro gamer at barns and nobile (had the mega drive, a.k.a. genisis, on the cover) and in the back it had a kinda price guide for different consoles and i saw a ZX-80 in there of which i have and the box it came in (which here was a box they shiped it in so its plain as can be) and the little blurb said the ZX-80 was worth 220£ thats about ~$330 in the US here.


this CANT be right

granted this is in europe and its probally in higher demand there than it is here but at the same time its probally more rare here than over there.

the one i have is more or less mint with a strange burn mark that it had from the factory, my dad said it was there ever since he got it and to my knowledge its complete.

well i had a duh moment, shoulda figured to check e-bay for things people play way too much for.

this ones has styrofoam inner packing, the one i got never came with such....it came pretty sparsly packed as a matter of fact. the story from my father was he ordered a kit to bulid one, he waited a while and after some time he got a package with a factory assembled one because they ran out of kits, mabe they sent it in the kit box instead of the assembled box? who knows these tihngs are werid.

One of retro gamer's better predictions is:

Magnavox Odyssey- pretty easy to get hold of, £15 (~$25).

The ZX80 can command a pretty penny, anywhere up to about £150 if it's really mint (and upwards if it's still in kit form, paradoxically) but ebay will always be a better judge of price than the press.
