How many people got ahold of the Entertainment Pack Microsoft sold for Windows 3.1? I still have the floppy with all the games on it and play them to this day and remember going over other peoples houses and they'd have it as well. SkiFree, Rodents Revenge, Chips Challenege and Tripeaks are some of the most memerable from the collection. Also did they ever release additional packages or more small games?

I already know about that. :P

Just felt like striking up conversation about experiences people had with the package MS released and how many might have actually been sold or shipped with the OS perhaps. Also did they ever release more mini obscure games? They had Hoover with Win95 and of course Age of Empires run a few sequals through the years, but mainly edging towards more simplistic games that are pure fun.

Wasn't Jewel Thief from one of the Entertainment Packs? It's not listed on the Wikipedia page, but I'm sure that's how I got the game originally... damn, I used to love that game.

Don't really know anything about Jewel Thief. I looked around for a little bit and found a bunch of newer games. What type of game was it?

Well, according to this page (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1080034#1080034), the game was released in 1992 by a company called ServantWare (So I guess it wasn't an MS Ent. Pack game)... although the site literally has NO other information on it, so don't waste a click.

The game was really simple... your mouse cursor would change to look like a thief, and each level would have a bunch of jewels scattered around, and some form of enemy moving around at random... all you had to do is move your mouse over all the jewels without hitting the enemies. Really simple, but fun. Each level had a different theme with different enemies and a different type of jewel to pick up.

When you say Microsoft Entertainment Packs...you are talking about Fuji Golf. The Alpha and the Omega. It is the beginning and the end. At least for me :)

Man, I wish I could find this somewhere, but alas, I must go without.

It does contain Fuji Golf and a bunch of other stuff. I guess MS didn't really make anything else video game related? I know some of those on the entertainment pack made it over to consules.

I had (may still have) all four releases on floppies. I got them in 1995 IIRC I pirated them from a neighbor. My favorites were Jezzball, Fuji Golf, Klotski and Taipei. Lots of pleasant hours wasted away on those...

Heh. Now that I think about it my wife still has Chip's Challenge on her Win2K PC, complete with an MS Office toolbar shortcut. I rebuild the house PC's once a year and for the last several now I guess I've been copying and recopying the C:\WEP folder to her machine without even thinking about it.

Guess you've never heard of Microsoft Arcade, then? (link) (http://www.microsoft.com/games/arcade/prodinfo.htm)
Before MAME, this was about as close you could get to classic arcade games on your PC. They were pretty good interpretations for their time.

I barely recall that because I do remember the Asteroids and Tempest but never saw them in a MS package.

Yeah, I recall seeing a few, same with on the NES. It would be nice to see some of those games brought back to life and redone for the 360 or something.

Not taking the time to read everyones responses, just the first few posts:

Dude, I remember loving, and pwning at theose games when I was so young. This daycare I went to every day after school throughout most of my elementart years had some PCs, like old ones with only DOS and during the last one or two years I was there windows 95 (but hey, this was during the mid 90's, so non of this was too old or anything back then). I remember playing those games all the time against my fellow friends at the daycare, both older and younger than me, and always holding the high scores on many of the games on most of the machines until the older kids got ticked off and erased our scores (the 'our' refering to me and some of the kids closer to my age as we all seemed to do better than the older kids, lol, made us sad at the time, but l8er on looking back, it is much much much sadder for them, lol, pwned em).

Rodents revenge, SkiFree, Jezzball, I think those are the ones that I always ranked in the high scores in, often top, and one that I dont think was mentioned yet (didnt notice it at least) was Pipe Dream or something like that, and I always seemed to have the high score on that game, lol. Chips revenge though, I was nvr a huge fan at the time, or at least one of the high score holders.

There was also some other game that we loved there that I would love to track down again made for DOS, but I guess that is another story. I am already going on about old times too much. End.
