Remember the kid's game show that aired on PBS called "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" based on the computer game? Sure you do. Ok, remember The Chief on that show - the one who would give the "detectives" their assignments and check on them as the game progressed? Remember how she'd introduce the Bonus Round by saying, "Let's go to the map!"
Well, the actress who played that character passed away yesterday.

"Let's go to the map" indeed. :(

*salutes*
That was a fun show. The game was mildly passable for something the school would let you play with.

Just about all of the old Carmen Sandiego stuff kicks ass. I had a copy of USA for C64, but it mysteriously disappeared. Curses.
On a side note, who's seen the SNL sketch "Where in the world is San Diego California?" Bob Sagat hosting a Carmen Sandiego parody - it doesn't get any more early '90s than that. :-)

Why? Why?!
Why couldn't it have been the cheesy Egon Spangler-lookalike in the short-lived cartoon series instead?

First Mr. Rodgers and now her... two former PBS stars gone over the last couple weeks... George Plimpton better watch his back for a while because you know what they say about going in threes.

Didn't she also play Nell Carter's sister in a couple of "Gimme a Break" episodes?

I also think she might have played the female dj/voice in the movie "The Warriors," that was continuously taunting the Warriors as made their way thru NYC.
"Warr....i.......orssssss....come out and play-ay!"
