Well, getting though some Sega CD games. As money is tight and I want to play with my new system, I have been playing these as burned copies. When money becomes more sufficient, I intend to buy most of my favorites.

Finally beat the Terminator. The last level is tough! Fantastic soundtrack, overall it is great run and gun game. Highly recommended.

I've also beaten Snatcher, which is as great as advertised. Playing with the Justifier is a must IMO (read below).

Then I was able to snag a Justifier gun recently for $5. After setting up an older TV, I have been having a blast with the old gun games for the Sega CD. Even the American Laser games, which supposedly aren't that compatible with it seem to work well enough. I've burned through Mad Dog McCree (an old favorite of mine from the arcades, then the computer version), and am slowly memorizing where all the civilians are in Lethal Enforcers. Bastards keep wanting to get shot!

11/14 - Xenosaga Episode II: Jenseits von gut und Bose (PS2) (about 36 hour completion time)

11/15 - Metroid II: Return of Samus (GB) (completed in 4hrs 20mins)

11/19 - Legend of Dragoon (PS1) (55hrs)

11/20 - Tales of Destiny (PS1) (38hrs)

Dark Sol - To answer your qustion it's not as crazy as it seems, I use the last month or two of the year to clear games I have left unfinished from months or even years ago. Xeno II I only had about 2-3 hours left to play. Dragoon I played another 5 hours to complete it. Played another 4-5 hrs to beat Vandal Hearts as well.
And as for ToD I was saved at the first save in the last place of the game, played it for about 2 hours just past midnight and finished off the final bosses to complete this one.

I've seen some of your recent posts in this thread, the "Finds" thread and in the "What Are You Playing Daily."

Just wanted to say I am very pleased to hear you enjoy the Sega CD system from the deal we did not too long ago. It obviously found a good home and a good owner and I am happy that it did.

crap, falling behind on posting my accomplishments.

Oct 13 - #44 - Cave Story (PC)
Enjoyable little freeware game that everyone should have played at some point since Aeon Genesis translated it and brought it to the attention of english speaking gamers. If you haven't played it yet, you really ought to. A bit more linear than I normally like in my Metroidvania-ish games, but overall really well constructed and some snazzy bonus stuff to find.

Nov 10 - #45 - Transformers: Autobots (NDS)
Controls are a bit meh and the graphics aren't too hot, but generally it's a somewhat enjoyable game. There's some massive difficulty spikes that mostly revolve around the control just not working out too well.

Nov 11 - #46 - Bioshock (PC)
Yea, it's the bee's knees. Sure, it's just System Shock 2 in an aquatic setting and with the difficulty ratcheted way the fuck down, but that doesn't stop it from being pure awesome all the same. The voice work in particular is mind blowingly well done. Don't see that getting enough love and it's a damn shame.

Nov 14 - #47 - Sam & Max Season 1 Episode 1: Culture Shock (PC)
Fun little point n click adventure game. I've always loved the humor of the Sam & Max comics and the Lucasarts game and this sucker does it right. Slowly working on Episode 2, but they're generally fairly short games. Episode 4 is completely free right now if anyone wants to give the series a whirl and see what it's all about.

Nov 21 - #48 - Swashbucklers: Blue vs Grey (PS2)
Akella's latest pirate game, only this time set during the American Civil War. The game is only about half finished with large amounts of content being rehashed over and over (there's only 3 generic ship captains to fight, 2 ship decks to fight on, two generic boxing opponents, etc etc etc) and none of the gameplay systems are terribly deep or fleshed out, but it's still a reasonably fun game. Graphics in particular are pretty nice and the tongue in cheek writing is fairly entertaining.

Hopefully I'll be adding S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl to the list soon, but we'll see.

Absolutely. Have you played 2 yet? While not a huge leap from GoW1, it is still an awesome game. The levels are larger than on 1, and there are quite a few more bosses, though not that many epic boss battles like the Hydra from 1.

Nov 28th- Finished game #27 Halo 3 on Normal difficulty.

It was fun playing through the Campain mode, but it wasn't all to different gameplay wise to Halo 2. Don't get me wrong I did have a great time playing the campain mode however, I thought Bungie could have came up with some better ideas when it came to level design for the last misson. Desite the level design and the story Halo 3 is a great game none the less, so I would give it a 9.0 out of 10.

Nov 29th- Finished game #28 Super Mario Galaxy

I was throughly impressed with this game, never once did this game become repititive to a point where I wanted to turn off the console. With it's awesome creative gameplay you would go from waving the Wii remote to pick up star bits, to solving puzzles by stomping certain buttons to make blocks pop out of the ground to reach a power star. In the end Super Mario Galaxy is a game with a lot of fresh ideas that easily reintroduces the platformer in a whole new way, anyone that hasn't tried this game yet needs to due so because it's truely a game that shouldn't be missed.

I give it a 9.5 out of 10 for creative gameplay and genre defining innovation to a genre that still keeps on kicking despite being over 20 years old.

Finally beat Super Mario Galaxy. I have been holding off on beating it for a couple of weeks, just to make it last as long as possible. It was well worth the wait. Such an awesome game. Though, I really could have beat it in a couple of days. I really wish it was a little longer. Of course, I haven't got all of the stars yet.

Next on my list is to finish up Metroid Prime 3.

Justice League Heroes
Fun game, but I expected a little more. I also did figure out how to unlock the extra characters until I was about an hour from finishing it (at least you can start a new game with your previous save). Snowblind needs to reinvent their wheel, since they haven't changed the formula since Baldurs Gate: DA.

Fantastic game. I can't wait to see what new game series Retro is working on now. Rumor has it that it will be another classic game series that they are bringing back from dead, so to speak. Here's hoping for Kid Icarus.

Next on my list: Zack and Wiki (Wii)

Nov 30 - #49 - S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl (PC)

Mix of Deus Ex with Fallout and a smidgen of Operation Flashpoint. Wonderful first person shooter / adventure / horror game in a post apocalyptic wasteland. Some nagging bugs here and there, but the overall world design and detail, storyline, and gameplay far outweighed bits like the buggy task management or the random graphical oddity. I waited for this game for over 5 years and it was well worth the wait.

Watch out for the somewhat high system requirements, but the game is more than worth a little upgrade. Its novel way of handling the end game. There's 7 different endings, btw...2 of which you can get through actions chosen during the endgame and 5 that are determined by your actions throughout the storyline.

Dec 01 - #50 - Gore: Ultimate Soldier (PC)

Throwback to the pre-Unreal first person shooters, unfortunately brutally outdated by the time it was finally released in 2002. Simple, linear, and oftentimes over the top (one enemy is a large, overweight man carrying a beer that yells at you for making him spill it as he pummels you), but manages to capture that Apogee shareware-feeling that's lacking in other retro-throwbacks (Will Rock, Painkiller, Serious Sam). Bonus points for not forcing you to wade through massive waves of enemies in large, open, but sadly bland levels. Level design remains tight, focused, and fairly interesting despite the simplistic look.

Sadly, 4D Rulers seem to be unable to evolve the design and have since released two progressively worse games (with thier most recent release pulling in absolutely abysmal reviews for its cheap as fuck AI). Hopefully the imminent free, ad-supported version of Gore will help get a Gore 2 out of preproduction and hopefully it turns out ok.

Dec 6th- Finished game #30 Streets of Rage 2 (Gen)

It was really fun playing through Streets of Rage 2, the music was befiting of the atmosphere and you could pull off different combos instead of using the same combo over.
Over all I'd give it a 8.5 out of 10.

23rd and probably the last game I'll beat for the year. Only a few days til Christmas and then all my attention goes to all the new games available:

12/16 Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) - Probably one of the best games released in quite a while as far as I'm concerned. Definitely my favorite game of the year. Gawd I don't know if I can ever pick up Twlight Princess again.
It was fun on the wii...waving around the wemote..
looking like a complete idiot, and my parents calling me a 5year old...
But after spending 3-5hrs inbetween dungeons getting all the extra little stuff
Like hearts and what not
And then only taking like 2hrs in each dungeon..
repeat times 6..
It got tedious.
So I put it down at the last dungeon haha
Besides I had to return it... ...

But anyways. I want to beat Harvest Moon back to nature by the end of January...
I've been playing that game since summer, and it's bout time I beat it and move on...to...
Harvest Moon 64 hahaha.

Just finished Sword of Mana for the GBA. One of the most convuluted and confusing storylines I've ever played in an RPG. Most of the time you have no idea what is going on, you have no connection to any of the characters, and often times left with little advice on where to go next. Why can't they just follow the formula of Secret of Mana and please all the hardcore fans. Secret of Mana is the only game in the series I love (it's in my top 5 of all time), but all these damn spinoffs suck. I wouldn't have finished the game but I was only about an hour from the end and I started it like 6 months ago. My score: 5/10

I doubt next year will be as productive as the previous 2, but time will tell. After all, I said this time last year that I wouldn't beat as many games in 2007 as I did in 2006, but I somehow managed to beat MORE.

Looks like 9 games for me in 2007. Just finished the last two tonight.

9. Heavenly Sword - It wasn't bad. The very last round with the final boss was a bitch. I almost didn't bother finishing it. But it has good cutscenes and was a nice mindless hack n slash. The story and dialog were really stupid, though. Great voice acting, but terrible script.

8. Call of Duty 4 - Liked it. I'm not a huge FPS fan, but this was definitely a good one.

7. Beyond Good and Evil
6. Psychonauts
5.Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
4. Scooby Doo Unmasked
3. The Warriors
2. Gears of War

My final post in this 2007 thread.

Since my last post here in November, I have beat the following.

-Haunted House (2600): On Level 1 and 2. I eventually want to beat all of the different variations. I think there are 9 on the cart?

-Pitfall (2600): With one life left after time ran out. I don't remember my high score (it is written down upstairs in my "files") but it was good enough to qualify for a patch.

-River City Ransom (NES): With Alex on easy difficulty. Started the game on the Generation NEX, got halfway through and then used my most recent password to finish via emulation on my Dell laptop.

-Double Dragon (Genesis version played on the Sega Nomad): I figured this game would be better than sex on the Nomad. Well, it sucks on the small screen and even though it is my favorite port of Double Dragon, I am only going to play it on the tv through the Genesis from here on out. Too damn blurry and too hard to perform any moves on a handheld.

-Joe Montana Football (Game Gear): With no semblance of a season mode, you only play single game exhibitions. I waxed the computer nearly 100 to 0.
