Day 6.

After a few randomly chosen popular titles, we're back to the somewhat obscure. Strange little game by Sunrise for the ColecoVision that requires bit of skill and a bit of reflexes. Ever play it? What do you think? How does it stand up to other Sunrise titles? How about to other ColecoVision titles? Is there anything you've ever played that's similar? Write your own mini-review here.

DP Guiide sez:

Gust Buster (ColecoVision, by Sunrise) $25/R5
Designed by Ed Salvo. SANTULLI SLANT: Only our own Sean Kelly could produce enough hot air to fill these balloons... hang on to them - they let you fly above the landscape as you try to keep aloft. Many obstacles will try to knock you out of the sky. You can land at will and get new balloons if you're skillful. [Gr: 7, So: 6, Ga: 7, Ov: 7] #1601.

You know it wasn't until last year that I realized that the name of the game wasn't GUT Buster. I was thinking it had something to do with a fat assed kid trying to stay aloft on a balloon. Actually I'm not too far off...

This game sucks, sucks, suckity suck suck sucks. Geez, Joe, what were you THINKING when you gave Gust Buster a seven? Even a .07 out of ten would be too generous a rating for this ugly Sunrise disaster with the world's clumsiest control. Gust Buster tries to be a wacky alternative to Lunar Lander but fails due to 1) Awful design and 2) Frustrating, counterintuitive play mechanics that leave you wondering how anyone could play this game and actually enjoy it. If I had gotten a copy of this for Christmas as a child, I would have tied it to a helium balloon and sent it far, far away.
