You can used standard Nintendo controllers and A/V leads (SNES/N64/Cube). It's heavy, but you are going to need to get the 100v AC Adapter. Playing the system with a standard 110v NES AC will kill it. Also, leave it unplugged when not in use. Not sure what your voltage standard is in Australia, but in the US, we have 110v outlets. Playing the system is fine, but it isn't wise to leave it plugged in.
My suggestion is to buy the AV Famicom. I have one and it is spectacular. You can use the Disk System & Nintendo 3D System with it. Also, it obviously can play all of the games with special chips like Akumajou Densetsu (Castlvevania 3). I think it is also quite easy to find a 70>60 pin converter for playing international games as mos of the famiclones prior to the Yobo and the like required one to play US games.
The Famicom is a great system to collect for. Enjoy!
ah right, thanks alot.
well the voltage in australia is actually 240v but i do have a stepdown convertor i use on my japanese gamecube that converts that to 110v so i assume i can just use that?
Absolutely. That should work fine!
ouchh shipping almost triples with the ac adaptor!
Yeah, it sucks. That's where all the shipping weight is. Well worth it though.
What about finding the required voltage inputs and buying a random power supply from your region that conforms to it? You'd need to know what those requirements were, of course - maybe Japan Game Stock will tell you.
wait the nes 2 isnt region free is it? because i can get an av modded nes 2 pretty cheap.
Av famicom is what it seems i will be getting then! can't wait to get back into some binary land!
