Okay - I'm trying to type out and it changes it to lower case letters.
Heh heh. That's odd seeing that. It's almost surreal thinking back to the time before the big worldwide AIDS scare/epidemic started.
The world has moved on and left me behind. Therefore I choose to retreat into the past.
1982? This ad ran must have run a matter of mere months before knowledge of the AIDS we all know today became widely disseminated.
Those of you who were kids in the late 1970's/early 80's may also remember an appetite suppressant that went under the brand name "AYDS". They looked like little chocolates. You ate the AYDS and you lost weight. I'm not making this up. Suffice to say those things were quickly gone from store shelves by the end of the decade. (Wiki)
Space Duel is a cool game. Think I'll play some tonight in MAME and maybe just boot up that service mode for a laugh.
Do we know of any other Atari vector cabs that had AIDS, then? Black Widow, perhaps?

Does having AIDS make him any less of a caveman?

Comedian Wayne Kotter had a joke about it...
"Anyone remember AYDS? Can you imagine that company's business meeting?
'I can't believe they named a fatal disease after US!!!'"
or at least name it after a candy that sounds like a disease...GOOBERS."
Or why did they name that gum "Trident"- you know what that means in Latin?
THREE TEETH.
"The big things that...nerds like to argue about might not actually matter that much."
Speaking of candies whose names have taken on different meanings:

Way back when, in the year 1895, before there was color TV, Video Games and Automobiles, a man named August Goetze started manufacturing a variety of confections. Located in the heart of Baltimore, Maryland, the company was originally called the Baltimore Chewing Gum Company. In the early 1940’s Mr. Goetze decided to only produce one candy, and that candy was called a Caramel Creamİ. With its rich and creamy center surrounded by soft chewy caramel it became an enormous hit.
