    Default Small Question...

If you're shipping something in a box, and the box itself is valuable and needs protection, is it sufficient just to wrap the box in brown paper? Or are more agressive means necessary?

If you're going to ship something which comes with its original box PLEASE put it into another box altogether. Many people buy things only because it comes with the original box and because of this expect it to be taken care of when shipped. Remember that when shipping US Priority mail the post office will supply FREE boxes. You can also order them in bulk at the USPS website.

    That's what I figured...

Also, is it really only a good idea to combine items when you're in a hurry, or are there other good reasons to combine somewhat unrelated items?

I'd combine shipping on anything I sell unless there's an item that needs extra special care in packaging. If you can save the buyer a few bucks in shipping charges why wouldn't you?

Sorry, I meant combining in an auction, not shipping.

I think that depends on what it is your selling. For instance, I wouldn't bother including commons with a rare game cart. Most likely every bid you get is going to be for the rare cart anyways so your basically throwing in the commons for free.

Ah. Makes perfect sense when you put it that way.

Glad you asked that. All the boxed consoles (and even a few boxed games) I've bought from e-bay were just wrapped in brown paper. I always wondered if the seller knew enough to mention the box in the auction listing and knew it would increase the value of the item, why in the hell didn't they take some kind of precaution to have it arrive at my apartement in some sort of shape worth collecting.
