Default Need help connecting PSP to the internet :(

I pecked around with my psp and wireless router today and figured out that if I use a password and secure connection, then the psp will NOT connect to my router. However, if I disable the password and make the connection unsecure, only then will the psp connect.

    I am using a D-Link router(DI-524) 802.11g/2.4ghz and I am using Channel 6 with a WEP Encryption of 128Bit.

Does anyone know why my psp wont connect through a secured connection or can anyone offer any advice?

    Thanks again. I appreciate it.

Are you entering a raw hex WEP key, or a passphrase? If it's a passphrase, maybe the PSP either handles those differently or not at all. As far as I know, the PSP will do 128 bit WEP, but you could always try bumping it back to 40 bit and see what happens (if the router supports it).

I use to have that exact same router and had the same problem connecting. I got rid of it a while ago but I think I fixed it by setting the router to 802.11g mode only (using g + b didn't work for some reason).

If that doesn't work, try resetting your PSP settings back to the factory defaults and then re-configure everything again. That worked a few times for me too when I couldn't connect.

Not sure what you want to browse for mostly, but if you're looking to play demos try this link:

    http://boardsus.playstation.com/play...cending&page=1

You can download like all the demo's on your pc and unzip them to an sd card for the psp, and there are quite a few more demo's than what is offered on the official site through the psp browser.

Sorry about your connection problem, I have no advice on that.

The WEP encryption you have is nearly worthless. Anyone half interested in intercepting your data will crack the key in no time at all. If you have a wireless system sending sensitive data then go with WPA and don't even worry about the PSP, look for someone elses wireless.

If your PSP is the only wireless device you own then take off everything and make it an 100% open network. Now go to the MAC address filter and add your PSP, problem solved.
