Never played or seen it but have heard it's pretty good. I'd expect great gameplay too with the Saturn controller.

You can do the spin dash in Sonic 1 now. And IIRC, Knuckles was playable in some of the other games besides S&K??? I can't remember, but for sure you can do the spin dash. I think the same codes from Genesis are still there in the Saturn port as well. Good comp I say

Sonic Jam is ok, but nowhere near perfect. The inclusion of the spindash in Sonic 1 is not as mind-blowing as one would think. The Saturn controller is a plus, but the 6-button Genesis pad was also excellent. There are no real issues outside of rampant slowdown in Sonic 2. I could never quite understand why, but the frame rate is not stable. The Sonic World is very cool, but it doesn't balance out the marred Sonic 2 for me. It's like the 32X Space Harrier. Everyone lauds that port, but the framerate dips something fierce all the time.

If you go the emulated route, you're better off getting the Sonic Collections on the Gamecube. Their especially great with a Hori pad. You can also get Sonic CD on Sonic Gems. It's the PC version, but it doesn't matter much other than having a loading screen not found in the original. The import is super nice because it has the original, superior music.

the spin dash in Sonic 1 is optional in Jam, and all the level select codes from the originals do still work- in fact, I found the S3 level select code a lot easier to input in Jam than on the original cart.

On the whole though, jam is a great game, the little extras in Sonic World, whilst hardly earth-shattering, are fun to flick through for a while.

The main plus for the collection is that the Sonic 1 used is the (slightly) later, Japanese "fixed" version: moving clouds, invincibility spike death fixed.

I believe some sounds were off slightly, but I don't remember what specifically.

Possibility is infinity! You must be satisfied!

I remember when I first played Sonic Jam thinking how they were so retarded by not making a fully fleshed out 3-d game based on the world part.

Yeah that part alone is worth seeing what could have been. Back then it would have worked really well, not so much now.

    A bit off-topic I guess.
