Humidity in Saturn PAL boxes

Hi everyone, this is my first post here. Half of my saturn games just like many saturn PAL games come in plastic boxes with a card cover glued to it. With the time, the card becomes irregular, specially on the back. I'm afraid this is because my house suffers from humidity during the cold seasons but I don't really know if that's the problem. I don't know what to do to prevent this. Most of my card boxes become irregular. Is re-sealing the games a good solution? I usually only use some celophane sleeves to protect all my game boxes. I recently put some silica gel packets around the games and I'm expecting to see how effective that is. ANY tip on how to prevent this is helpful, as I own some rarities I would like to kee in the best condition possible. Thanks.

Buy silica "cannister". Put one in each case. Place the saturn boxes inside
a nice thick cardboard box.

You can't defeat humidity without a complete seal, which is impossible and
inadvisable. The printing on the box and plastic holder give off small fumes,
and in a sealed environment might damage the media.

Placed into the rugged box, the cardboard will absorb the moisture before the
games will. Unless you live in a place where it rains all the time , it's usually
enough to stop the moisture.

If you live in the UK or perhaps the american northwest, go out and buy a
dehumidifier. Keep it in the room you store your games in. This should take
care of your problems. It is capable of keeping the room nice and dry, but
not excessively dry which can damage anything really.

You can buy certain models that have a hose connection on the bottom.
A permanent drain can be made, or you can mount the unit on a wall and
have it drain out a window. I have a piece of wood with a notch in my
window.

thanks a lot for the reply. Actually I am from Portugal but when it rains moisture in the air in my house can sometimes become high. I already have a dehumidifier, the room is small overall so I think only one is good. I don't think I'll see the cardboxes back to normal, but at least they are intact.

Put it in a box and put the box in a closet or somewhere where it is dry?

If your dehumidifier never turns off, it's too small. Get a better unit, and the problems will go away.

I've got a similar problem but its with regards to moss and stuff growing on the information side of my discs and sometimes on my manuals. Seems to affect mainly my ps1 and dreamcast games. Most of my collection is stored at home in Singapore where its pretty humid and hot. Any suggestions on how i can get get them cleaned up? especially the manuals (if its even possible). Also, the collection is stored on a wooden shelf with sliding glass panes so could it in any way be due to that as well? Should i change it? I only come home once a year for about a month so my discs rarely get touched.

Yeah mold. What about cleaning? I'm gonna use some alcohol wipes to clean the dvds unless someone has a better suggestion. But what about the manuals? I'm assuming theres no way of getting rid of it on paper?

I hate to say this but once you have mold growing on plastic you might as well write it off as garbage..
