is it safe to buy XB360 now?

I've waited and waited for the bugs to be corrected and I'm considering once again buying a 360. Question is.... are most of the kinks worked out? I dont want to spend $400+ on a system that will only work for 13 months with my luck.

I don't need the large hard drive in the elite as I'm just a casual gamer. I'll buy the sports games and probably rent everything else. Anyway, is now a good time or is there more mods to come that I should wait for.

Keep waiting - they're supposed to start using the 65nm chips by Christmas.

They did redesign the mobo on the Eliete's, and I really haven't heard about any problems with them, yet... But (of course) those are the most expensive models

Yup, I can testify to this. You want as big as possible unless you like constantly deleting and dl'ing files.

They're a great system. I got a Wii for xmas and i dont play it anymore cause there's nothing out for it except for Zelda/wii sports, all the stuff on the way is the same ole Nintendo stuff with these new gimped controls i reckon.

The 360 is where it's at. The xbox has a great community feel to it and it's got all the great games for the time being. Not to mention all the original multiplayer content (or at least updated) that is on XBLA, with the virtual your paying for ROMS with nothing new.

All these errors and break downs will just add to the 360 legacy!!!

I know mine's have constant issues now and I don't trust the 360 as far as quality goes, though on the flip side, it has a great selection of games.

I'm waiting myself. I'm thinking sometime next year. If they get the Tenticle Beast under control by then. As a cynic, I fear it failing in the 13th month after the warranty becomes TP.

You've waited this long, wait and see if the new one with the cooler chip die actually ships sometime this fall. It's an awesome system for sure, best one I've ever owned, but it's not THAT far off. I'll be upgrading this fall myself

I'd suggest waiting too. Too me it seems stupid to spend that much on something that even *might* die in 13 or so months.

I'm of the mind that if you're seending upwards of $400 on something, it should work for at least a decent amount of time.

Of course according to the schematics I checked yours is scheduled to go kaput june 27-29 between the hours of 3-11. A coffin is awaiting No but seriously. Knowing what I painfully know I would wait until I got the revised edition confirmed with mfg dates and all.

It is easy to convince oneself but there are issue need to be address. My xbox was about as gently handled as one could be and it still went kaput. If you must have one now pony up for the 2 year ms extension. Believe the issues.
