These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!
yeah this is good news. The only sucky thing about it is that the Japanese version of this had online play. But they were also 40 bucks and I am sure that this will only be 20 here.
No chance of the US version having online play?
I'm really excited about these collections coming out, there's 8 or so in Japan so far...
Mark of the Wolves
Last Blade 1 & 2
King of Fighters Orochi Version
Art of Fighting
Fatal Fury Vol 1
Fatal Fury Vol 2
King of Fighters Nest Version
Fu'un Super Combo (Kizuna Encounter and Savage Reign)
The only game in there that interests me is Fatal Fury Special, and I already own the arcade machine.
I know this post is rather pointless, but I've always wanted to say "I already own the arcade machine" in a discussion like this.
I read this yesterday and am looking forward to it. SNK is really pumping out some excellent retro compilations. Apparently there is a Volume 2 in Japan as well.
Who would've thought the PS2 would end up being the console with the definitive library of retro 2-D games? Neo-what? (j/k)
"One of the ways I gauge a DS game is by recharges. "...Tycho (Penny Arcade)
They already released the Art of Fighting Collection earlier this month for $15 MSRP. Glad to know more 2-D fighting goodness is in the pipeline.
Hardcore gamin' since '75
Best part is the two other minor details:
If you look at the In Development section of the US website, the FF Battle Archive maintains the "Volume 1" in its logo, implying that volume 2 will also make it here!
More importantly, KING OF FIGHTERS XI is making it to the US also. This is fantastic.
Finally, NEO GEO BATTLE COLISEUM is making to the US.
That's FOUR products featuring Geese Howard in ONE year. SNK is back.

KOF XI is a great game and so is Neo Geo Battle Collesium, I own the japanese versions of them. I really hope SNK tweaks Neo Geo Battle Collesium though, it has aweful load times on the PS2.
You know i am just happy someone(SNK) is still supporting 2d fighters on the ps2. Capcom is doing a shit job of it and Sammy is still pretty fresh but lets hope the US get atleast Fists of Northstar from Sammy and maybe a Darkstalkers/Night Warriors collection from Capcom.
But the Japanese Darkstalkers collection on the Dreamcast wasn't really a collection, it was one game with all characters in all their incarnations. It didn't even have the original endings or levels for each game. It played great, but it was shit in that regard.
I bought KOF "2006" yesterday, and I had no clue AOF Collection was $15! I'll be getting it as soon as I get some money, woohoo! And yes, I plan to get Fatal Fury Archives Volume 1 soon.
Arrrgh, and I just recently bought FF1/2/Special on the SNES
I guess I'll have to sell those and get the collection.
Haha amen to that. I used to say I'd never become an elitist, but when you've played the Neo Geo cartridges ANY load time is too damn long.
That said, there's a few things worth nothing:
Fatal Fury: King of Fighters ~ This and the Genesis port let player two control any character instead of just Terry Bogard/Andy Bogard/Joe Higashi by tapping down on controller two at the character select screen. The storyline is slightly more developed as well if you're into that kind of thing.
Fatal Fury 2 ~ SNES Fatal Fury 2 should be kept just to show off what the SNES can do. It's unbelievable how much is kept in this port. The quality is lower but every sound sample/etc. is there.
Fatal Fury Special ~ This port really isn't worth your time. Neo Geo and Turbo CD are the only acceptable choices.
SNES games with load times. As if the games weren't already slow enough.
Kitsune, when you go out for Art of Fighting Anthology, Game Crazy seems to be selling it for $19.99 so stay away. The Toys 'R Us here has a huge box of them for $14.99 though.
I wish SNK would set up direct ordering from Wall, NJ. First off I could just drive the half hour and pick up the game from them , second off, why even bother with Gamestop when they treat the product like shit?
