    Exclamation Yoshi's Story N64...

Ok...I know this game is widely regarded as not-so-great/too easy/etc... Now, it is too easy...IF you run through the game eating any fruit...Now then, , Ever try to find ONLY melons? There are exactly 30 in each level, and it's a real BITCH trying to find them let me tell you! And not only do you have to find them, but sometimes you have to do tricky minigames to get them. And if you mess up once, you have to do the whole darn level over!

So, I beat level 1-1 with all 30 melons...Not too hard. But damn, Already on 2-1, I'm having a hell of a time. So, I can imagine the task of beating all 24 levels eating only melons, must be quite an accomplishment. Has any of you done this? I'm thinking of giving it a go... But, It's weird how this game has two extremes. Being that you can breeze through it in about an hour, or find all these darn melons, which even for an expert gamer, I'd think would take ATLEAST a week...probably closer to weeks or a month...

Unless you're an expert gamer and don't have a job, and can stand to play Yoshi's Story all of your waking hours! lol. Then maybe you could do it in a couple days.

    Coincidentally:
I was looking through my N64 games yesterday and came across Yoshi's Story N64...
Thought to myself..I never really tried this game before/tested it but never played through it..

"Breeze through it in about an hour" huh?..Hmm...Maybe I'll try that tonight..
I know once my wife sees such a type game she'll be ripping the controller out of my hand to play..
I'm intrigued to Find the melons..........

Didn't mean to hijack your thread, so I'll answer the question - no, I haven't. I don't even have an N64. But I agree that I enjoy the type of game you're discussing. The kind that can be beaten quickly, but that has tons of other challenges available that can be enjoyed by the entire family.

You know, I think that Yoshi's Story got kind of a bum rap. Admittingly, Nintendo made a huge mistake by touting this as the sequel to Yoshi's Island on the Super NES (it certainly isn't as good as that classic), but it does have some of the familiar elements, it is fun and easy to play, and it has great graphics and audio.

Plus, as people here are mentioning, it did have a universal appeal due to its easy difficulty, but underlying challenges (although Kirby 64 worked on both those fronts better than this game did). When it hits Virtual Console (and it most certainly will eventually), I'd say it would be worth the $10 asking price.

Yes, I did have Yoshi's Story, but just getting Melons sounds tedious! !

Oh it's mind blowingly tedious... But it's quite the challenge, so if you think you are a hardcore 2D gamer, try getting every level complete with 30 melons...I dare you! I think it's probably harder than getting 100% on every level in Yoshi's Island...which was also quite the challenge. I did manage that feat I'm proud to say. Of course Yoshi's Island is a better game...but I think I'm gonna spend some more time with Story...I never really played the crap out of it, or tried to get only melons in every level! And make sure you are getting the right melons! I'm talking about the all light green melons, not the watermelons that are striped dark and light green! :P
