    Default taking out cart battery

The battery died in my Chrono Trigger cart and the battery looks to be pressed into a metal strip. How do I safely remove it? thanks in advance

Don't try to remove those strips from the battery, just desolder the entire thing out. You can get replacement batteries with strips on them or get a coin cell holder.

I meant remove the batt, not the strips. So would radioshack have batts w/strips or do I need to order those? thanks for the reply

One of the safer methods is to take a pair of clippers and snip the battery off at the legs, then touch your soldering iron tip to heat up the solder on the board until you can pluck the remainder of the legs out with tweezers. This avoids heating up the battery which could be dangerous.

Radio Shack might have replacement batteries with those posts pre-attached, but them having anything useful in stock is a crapshoot, they want to push RC cars and phones on you nowadays.

You want a CR2032 coin cell. If you get a coin cell holder instead it makes replacement in the future a whole lot easier.
