DO NOT ask me about OlderGames, DO NOT ask me if I can sell you a copy of any releases they/we made during our lifespan. I am a collector of Classic and Retro games just as I always have been PERIOD. I am here to be a part of the community and buy items for my collection.

Are these games hacks, or programmed from scratch?

Got any obscure game stuff?
Just from the look of the screens, I believe they may be programmed using BatariBasic. So that would make them new games. AA has a few games written in BB that they sell as new homebrews rather than hacks. In fact, GoSub is quite good and has been in development for a while.

I'm not sure I follow this sentence... I thought you could program BB games from scratch, so they'd still be "new homebrews", wouldn't they? I'm not sure why you're implying they're hacks...
Or were you basing that on my post? I didn't think they could be hacks because I thought they were BB games, but rather they reminded me of other games, graphically.

I will indeed be picking up at least one of those 2600 releases.... are those the only ones slated for the expo? It seems 2600 homebrewing has slowed down, but I'm not sure cause I'm not around to much anymore. Just saying over the CGE's.... releases have seemed to slow down.
Somebody make me a "CGE 2k7 Attendee banner" so I don't have to use this lame text
Yeah in general 2600 releases have dwindled at CGE because of this situation, too many complaints about non-attendees not being able to buy them.

Oh, the homebrewing scene is alive and kicking - just check out AA. It seems like there's a handful of new releases for the 2600 and 5200 every couple of months. Al usually unveils the newest carts at whatever new con/expo he'll be attending that month.
Plus, with outlets like Packrat, Atari2600.com, AA, etc., the homebrewers don't have to wait until an expo or con before bringing out a new game. He/she can just fire off the ROM and have carts available and on sale on these sites within a few days.
But I think the days of a So-and-So Exclusive Release are pretty much over unless specifically pre-organized by the cart designer.

And Tim follows up with the rest of what I was going to say... there are so many outlets now, releasing purely at a show is usually not the way it's done now...
