NDS- NY Times Crossword

Has anyone picked this up? I have already decided that I'm going to buy it (I love the NYT's crossword and travel a lot with both a DS and a book of NYT CWs, plus it has been getting good reviews), but what I'd like to know is if I should pick up a new one, or hold out for a used copy. Does the game automatically save which puzzles you have and haven't completed? If so, is it hard to reset this information? Is there anything else odd like that that I would need to know?

You can always buy a real baseball bat and play some real baseball for a few bucks instead of playing it indoors on your TV... you can also work at McDonald's instead of playing Burgertime cept you won't have those neat-o characters trying to kill you.

There's lots of things you can do in real life that you can buy a video game for (even shooting people .. but that's best left to gaming) but this is a video game forum, eh?

There's a fair difference between a video game that simulates nearly identically EXACTLY what you do in real life (Sudoku, Crosswords) and those that use intermediary controls to provide the experience (think pressing a button to swing a bat, for example)

I can think of several advantages of a video game crossword- a) more puzzles than you could possibly fit in a book, b) easier erasing/correcting, c) the ability to redo puzzles after time has passed and you've forgotten the answers.

Agreed. Sudoku on Brain Age was the most fun I've had with Sudoku ever, thanks to its brilliant interface. So that's probably why I'd grab the NYT Crossword Puzzles. As long as the program recognizes handwriting well enough, what more do we need?

Well if this gets a UK release I think we'll need two versions: The Sun and The Times.

Especially if The Sun version has a nice pic of a Page 3 gal everytime you finish a grid.....

not right now, though maybe it could be implemented later? I really want to get this game as well. My only fear is that I am not smart enough to handle a majority of the puzzles...

I went ahead and bought this game new today. If anybody aside from me wanted to know the answers to my questions, the game lets you have three or four profiles, and it saves which puzzles were completed by each profile so they don't get repeated. These profiles are easy to delete, too, so a used copy of this game is just as good as a new one.

And while I'm here, I'll go ahead and say that I'm pleased with the game. The interface is easy, and the multiplayer is fun, and the crosswords are great. The only real problem that I've had so far is I can't get it to recognize the letter "k" no matter what I do; I have to switch the keyboard on, hit "k," and then switch it back off every time I have a k. I don't know why it won't recognize my handwriting on that one.
