    Default japanese dreamcast games

Hi; I have a friend flying to japan and he is going to buy me some japanese dreamcast games.
My question is, what japanese games are good? ( I don't like rpg games).

I've heard nothing but good things about Ikaruga, one of the last of the dying genre of shmups.

Might as well use this oppotunity to ask: Does an American DC need to be modified before it can play Japanese games?

@ Dahne - You can use a Game Shark or a Blaze disc to boot up the system, remove which ever one you're using, and replace it with the game.

@Caraloca - The games you should get would depend on how much Japanese text you can read, but I would get Ikaruga, Super Street Fighter X, Vampire Chronicles, Cosmic Smash, and Space Channel 5 2. I have yet to actually import anything yet (still working on domestics).
Currently catching up on PSN, WiiWare, Wii U E-Shop and Xbox Live Arcade exclusives I missed.

Headhunter and Shenmue 2 would be better to get the Euro version, though, seeing that they had Euro English releases.

Also I highly recommend Rez, and slightly recommend Rainbow Cotton Both are 3-D rail shooters ala Space Harrier...

    Cheers,

Ikaruga's an excellent Dreamcast title, but it's coming out for the American Gamecube in a slightly enhanced form this April 15. Unless you have no plans to own a GC, it might be better just to wait and pay $40 for the 'Cube version in a few weeks.

Sega recently brought out a bunch of low-price Dreamcast reissues, including the cute fantasy adventure Napple Tale, the enjoyable puzzler Sakura Columns 2, and the multi-genre corporate simulator Sega Gaga (in which you actually play the CEO of Sega).

The DC versions of The King of Fighters 2000 and 2001 are first-rate fighting games with fun extras, though you can expect to pay full price for both titles.

And if you like shooters, try to find Twinkle Star Sprites or Zero Gunner 2.

    Default variety! dammit!

hmmmmm. given that there are a few hundred japanese dc games, it's funny that everyone here comes up with the a lot of the same titles. anyway, look here for some helpful (hopefully) info: www.classicgaming.com/japangaming

if you can find a copy the lost golem, pick it up- it's a fun puzzle game!
