SYD VAILS Sega Genesis Cart Found

So i found this cart at a local thrift shop. I had no clue what it was when i bought it, just that i had never seen anything like it. i fired it up and it is a japanese game. does anyone know what this is? i googled it and came up with zilch. and why would this be in a thrift shop in PA for 3 bucks?

Looks like a pirate version of Valis SD to me (which was released in the US as Syd of Valis).

syd of valis is basicly a cutsey or if you're an anime geek "chibbi" version of valis 2, anoyingly enough its the only way to play valis 2 on the genesis (1 and 3 were released in none "cute" versions) but fortunately you can play the normal valis 2 on tgcd.

if I recall valis syd us version is a relatively hard to find game. (though I think yours is a pirate cart naturally)

It's a cool find. It might not have a paper value, but it is uncommon and unique. I think anything unexpected like this adds to a collection.

Do mega-drive games naturally work on a Genesis? I thought they didn't? So why did his come up in Japanese?

the country lockout is game specific, the only way a md game doesn't work in a us genesis is via lockout codes in the game and the carts are slihglty off shaped so they don't fit, a simple gamegenie device will suffice to fix that problem. most pirate carts don't have the region lockout.

I really don't think that you can buy ANY game for $3 and overpay.

I'd buy that for 3 bucks, hell yeah, But it is indeed a pirate.

Funny thing is, there's at least a couple of anime shows that are about girls in armor-bikinis with swords that predate valis and just have easily could have been used.
