    Default Klonoa = wow

Having just completed Ratchet & Clank Going Commando and being slightly disappointed by the experience (especially compared to how fun R&C 1 was), I randomly popped in my unplayed copy of Klonoa which I bought two years ago.

Wow. This is the kind of game I needed!

It reminds me of Yoshi's Island, a game which I feel is one of the best platformers ever. The 3D environments look great and the gameplay is light and fun, but you still have to spend a little effort to "complete" each area. The music is spirit raising and the sound effects are spot on.

I had planned on just playing it for a few minutes to see what it was like, then moving on to Final Fantasy Tactics. A few hours later I was still playing. Last night I sat in bed with my PS1/LCD, cuddled up with Klonoa.

The sequal, Klonoa 2 for the Playstation 2 is loads of fun as well. Also, I've heard really good things about the Gameboy ones, but have yet to pick them up.

The first one is a genuine masterpiece. Glad you like it!
The second one is really good too, and the GBA ones are very good too.
    In Heaven, everything is fine.

Another Klonoa fan here. They're great games to cheer you up (well me anyway) & I loved the GBA versions which I had to import from the US & well worth the money. There seems to be very few people who have played GBA Klonoa - were they only released in the US as I can't recall seeing them in any UK shops?

^ Not sure, but all four of them (PS1, PS2, and the two GBA games) got Atlus style small print runs. Namco didn't have a lot of faith in the selling potential of this series on our shores (and unfortunately, they were right...)

Don't you think the first game [only played that] has 1 of the most engrossing, amazing, and yes sad stories for any platformer?

And on a lighter note, I love the way they talk in game.

Still to this day the first game in the series stands out as a PlayStation title that looks like it was made in a more modern era of consoles and designed to play smoothly as if it was made in a more vintage era of consoles.

I only played the 2nd title for the PS2. When it was brand new, then ended up trading it in before I started collecting games. Now I never seem to see it at EB or the pawn shop I usually go to. Somebay I'll buy it on ebay or something.

I luckily found Klonoa 2 at a used bookstore. I started playing it quite awhile later & stopped playing earlier this year for some other game I got.

Topics like these often rekindle my desire for starting/getting back into a game.

Klonoa is a brillent and insanely fun plateformer, I'm happy to hear you busted it out and started playing it Zing! It's a blast to play. I really loved the GBA version as well.

I have the first Klonoa platformer on GBA. Bought it on the cheap a few years back brand new. Looked great, sounded great and was a lot of fun to play. I need to find the PS1-PS2 games and the 2nd GBA one.

So, less than one week later the game is complete. It was fun from beginning to end. Although, the "extra" level did make me punch myself in the nuts a few times. Great game.

I remember stickng it on at midnight to play for an hour but ended up playing it until 6 in the morning until i completed it.

Can't really remember if i played it a bit earlier on that day but i dont think it, So it must take around 6 hours to beat.

I found a cheap used copy of the first game for the PS1, at a pawn shop, it's very much like the Tomba/Tombi games for the Playstation, both high quality games

One that I had missed, but have been looking for recently. Ironically it is also mentioned in this month's EGM.

Klonoa is one of my favorite game series ever, and the first in the series makes one of my top 10 games ever. The music, level designs, characters, story, graphics, all come together to make one amazing game. Klonoa 2 was like a dream come true, just like the original now only with cel shaded graphics, new characters, snow/water surfing, and if you ask me a bit more challenging puzzles.

The ones on GBA are alittle different, empire of dreams is a great platformer like the original klonoa only of course with handheld graphical limited. Dream champ tournament has much more challenging puzzles and introduces a little bit of a race element ot the game.

Moonlight museum on wonderswan is like empire of dreams, only not in color and obviously less impressive graphics. I just recently got this one and have not beat it yet.

Overall its a solid game series DEFINITLY worth playing for anyone into platformers.
