Default Ridiculous asking prices for classic consoles

I've always wondered what other people have seen in regards to people who really dont know the value/worth of a classic system. I see crazy asking prices all the time.

Post yours up. Craigslist, fixed price ebay auctions, etc.

Here's one from craigslist in Hawaii:

Collecovision with Donkey Kong, I'm pretty sure it's not worth $200.

There's a dude at the flea market who sells Yobos for 55 bucks and broken NES's for 25 (he says: "they're not broken, if you wiggle them around enough the light will stop flashing..."). There was a lady selling loose Sonic games for the Genesis at 10 dollars a pop before. I tried talking her down to 3, but to no avail.

That's nothing, place by me wants $75 for an NES and $135 for a Virtual Boy. No warranties, you're not allowed to test them in the store.

Actually it's a CALECO VISION....sounds like it might be rare enough to be worth $200 lol

Pricing strategy im guessing. You know there's one born every minute and they only need to sell it to one person

reality usually sets in when no one buys it for weeks . Unless they're really that unreasonable.

A few months ago, I saw an N64, "as-is" with no hookups or jumper pak for $14.99 at a Goodwill.

I found an Atari 7800 in a thrift a few months ago for $80. It was bundled with two Atari 2600 joysticks, and around a dozen games, most were 2600 commons. It also had six totally random power supplies taped to it, along with the original 7800 one. I already have three or four 7800s at home, all of which were bought for less than $10, so I naturally passed. I visited a week later, and it had been sold!

I saw an Atari 5200, being sold as-is, for around $80 at Goodwill in late-2006. That was packaged with some very common 5200 titles (i.e. versions of stuff already released on 2600, such as Pac Man and Centipede, etc.). Funny thing is that it lasted all of a day in the display case. Some dude bought it or an older lady, I guess.

I saw one just like that for $50 this weekend. I gave it a long, hard look.... and realized I had never seen such a poorly priced console before.

I used to keep a list of all the sellers who tried selling Mario/Duck Hunt carts on ebay for more than $10 + shipping. The list grew too long, so I stopped adding to it.

My local pawn has DOZENS of loose n64s sitting around, and they expect 30 dollars each! They also wanted to charge me 99 dollars for a jaguar.

I remember seeing a Marvel vs Capcom 2 at goodwill for like $80 BUT it was a burnt disc in a jewel case that just said "Marvel vs Capcom 2 - PS2, Jeremy" I was pretty shocked on that one.

My local game store is a notorious overpricer run by a pompous git who believes that a Mario/Duck Hunt is worth all of a good $15. Other shining examples of idiocy:

    NES Front Loader - $45
    Sega Genesis - $35
    SNES - $60
Final Fantasy for NES - $25
    Zelda for NES - $15
Super Mario RPG (w/ dead save battery and ripped label) - $35
Gunstar Heroes for Genesis - $25

Any of the systems at the top come with an uber common game (usually Mario/Duck Hunt for NES, Sonic 2 for Genny, and Super Mario World for SNES).

However, I have found some good deals there before (mainly when another guy ran the place). A 3DO with around 6 or 7 games for $50, An Odyssey2 with 6 games for $10 (they were tired of looking at it gather dust for $50), Mars Matrix for $7, Bubble Bobble 2 for $10, etc.

Actually, some of those prices don't look half bad, depending on the condition. I know certain gamestores here on the east coast sell NES and SNES systems for around those prices and can't keep them in stock!!!

yeah, I've sold about 80 frontloaders for around $45 each, and they sell every time. Sometimes I even list them for $50 just to see what happens, and they still go. I can usually sell SNES systems with smw for $55 as well.

    Talking PanaSony 3D REALstation O

There was a guy at this store that had common 3DO games for $60 to $80 bucks a pop. I had my eye on them for a year. He didnt sell a single one, I finally tried to talk him down on the prices and he got all pissy and said the prices are firm, take it or leave it. I said I think you don't really want to sell them, you just want to show them off. He shrugged his shoulders and said Thats my price.
Speaking of 3DO, a friend of mine went to a Salvation Army, they had a 3DO for $400, this was about two years ago. She said when she was in the store she saw it and said "Oh look a 3DO.....for $400???", the lady behind the counter said its not a 3DO its a "Panasonic REAL". My friend said its the same thing, the lady said "no, you are thinking about a Playstation."
My friend realized this conversation was going nowhere and said, well, whatever you want to call it, its $350 too expensive.
"Oh my lord it's nutty, yup!"
