Default Turbro Grafx Cd, Rondo questions

Ok so I found a really nice condition Turbo Grafx system with the CD add on, with the case and a controller and all the cables for $60, and of course I bought it.

But when I put in a burned copy of Rondo of Blood, it takes me to a castle screen, then to what seems to be a joke version of castlevania, with a very childish looking kid with a whip, walking through what looks like Sonic the hedgehog style levels. After a few seconds of walking, i see a screen with japanese writing and a few english words.

    "CD Rom"
    "Super CD-rom2"
    "Super System Card"

Did i download a joke version of this game, or is this NEC's way of telling me something?

you need the super system card 2.0 or higher to be able to play any of the super cd games, a good chunk of them have silly little "warning: screens the konami ones as you can see are the most amusing ones of all :-)

Actually, you need a System 3 card - and they're over $100 easy if you're lucky enough to actually find a US one. The ones on ebay are almost always from JP. I sold my Turbo and CD since it's not anywhere near as useful as an American Turbo Duo -- which can play Rondo and any US or JP CD title.

You need System Card 3, or a Turbo Duo (which has the RAM from the System Card 3 built in).

But in the meantime you can play that great hidden Dracula X game that isn't that difficult and has fantastic polygon graphics!

Might as well go with a Duo for the cost of a System 3 card. You might even grab a jpn Duo and open your horizons to jpn hucard games without the need of an adaptor and still have your TG16 for US hucards.

Yep... I echo a lot of opinions here. You only spent $60 for that setup. The best thing you could do is put it on ebay. You'll get $150 or more for it. I'm sure it may be a bit more actually... as long as the cd attachment works well.

Make sure you test it with a game that doesn't need the system card (or do they all need one???? You may just want to sell as is... being that you got the goofy game to work.

Then... simply get a DUO. You can get an American one if you want... but I think your cheapest and best option is to buy the PCE Duo-R. Get it modded... and then you are set. http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=3531.0
There's one for $170 shipped. Great deal and great job on his mods.

My investment from him was one of the best I have ever made.
