Default Problems with some Super NES stuff

I recently bought a box of assorted Nintendo stuff, and I'm having some problems getting some of the Super NES stuff working. Here's what I'm having problems with:

    - Super NES System (Mini): The plastic thing in the AC Adaptor port is broken off, preventing it from making contact to get power

    - Super Mario All-Stars: Won't work on my main Super NES (Connectors appear to be rusted)

-Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World: Same problem as above, but the connectors arn't rusted, they lack the gold finish where the Super NES's connectors rubbed against it.

    Any suggestions?

I recently bought some NES games for really cheap, and some of them had rusty connectors. They didn't work on my Nintendo, even after I had taken them apart and used a metal cleaner. So I had heard of taking sandpaper (a very fine grit) and rubbing some of the rust off. Well... because the games were so cheap, I went ahead. What the hell... they weren't working anyway. Sure enough... after a little while of scrubbing the pins lightly, I was able to get the rust off. It is important to get all the rust off near the bottoms, or they won't play. So I only recommend doing this if you absolutely can't get them to play... and you've already tried a metal cleaner and you can't get that to work either. Needless to say I haven't come across a game that hasn't played after some "coaxing." Even if the carts are silver they should play... you just have to make sure they're shiny and have no rust or oxidation spots on them. Sometimes it also helps to keep taking the cart out and reinserting it until it works- only after you've cleaned it though. Hope this helps... By he way... this should work for SNES games too. Remember Metal cleaner is really the only thing that'll really polish these. Alcohol is just a waste of time. And if you don't have one, buy a gamebit to open the carts so you can clean them properly.

    UPDATE:
I got the Super NES working, I'll try the sandpaper with Super Mario All-Stars, but I'm still having problems with Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World (The connectors arn't rusted, the gold finish has rubbed off where the Super NES makes contact)

if you've already tried metal cleaner and sandpaper (even if it doesn't look that bad) I'm not sure... with the combination of these two methods- I've been able to get every game I've come across to start working... I'm not sure of any other methods. It may be unfixable... But I'm no expert.

could you let the rest of us know what you did to fix it, in case someone else has the problem?

    thanks,

The Super NES was fixed by using a pair of pliers to squeese the metal contacts closer together. Then you plug in the AC Adaptor and it should work. (I got it working, but lost my save in Super Mario World from the testing)

Yes, the sandpaper worked for Super Mario All-Stars, but the Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World is screwed (Can't even get it to boot with a Game Genie, and I even tried the sandpaper on it, but no effect).

Awesome, glad it worked on one of the games... Sucks you can't get the other one going though.
