Question The best/most inexpensive replacement arcade monitor?

I've had two of my repaired/capped monitors blow out on me and I'm tired of trying to make these things work again. What new monitors are recommended? I'm looking to replace a standard 19 inch CGA.

All of the major online collectors like the Vision Pro on arcade shop. Is this the best price I'm able to get? Happ's site says theirs are $155, but I've heard shipping from them is murder.

Please, I would like any other members that have purchased new arcade monitors to drop a line here and tell everyone about your experiences. The more information the better!

I've never dealt with the Vision Pro, so I can't give you an opinion there. Happ Controls might kill you on shipping, but more or less, so will anybody else. Think about it, you are are shipping:
    1. A very LARGE, heavy object
    2. Made from GLASS.
    3. WITH delicate electronics mounted to it.
Basically, any carrier out there will charge a decent amount to ship it. Why buy a new monitor anyways? If you have one that works, and the picture tube is clean, I would just run it. You mentioned you had problems with the monitor board, but you'll have problems with anything eventually. Just something to keep in mind, is all.

Perhaps you can look into replacing just the board?

    Red face

Thanks to all who responded! I went ahead and bought a Happ VisionPro when it was onsale for $134. Shipping was $34 and unexpected sales tax was $14. All in all, not bad for a new monitor. I asked the major collectors with big internet sites and they ALL recommended the Vision Pro.

But...a day after I ordered it I met a great monitor tech locally that fixed my two dead monitors!!! Now all I need to do is find a game with a dead monitor and I'll be set!
