    Default September 2007 Finds

Picked up PS2 Disgea 2 for $17.50 at the 27th St. Kmart in Milwaukee. One left for you locals.

    Rich

P.S. I just saw another one at the Hwy 100 K-mart, but it's barely visible behind the other PS2 games in the glass case...and apparently this price ends today with a 30% off clearance sale....regular price $25.

P.P.S. Awesome garage sale score below!

    Illuision of Gaia (CIB)
    Mega Man X (CIB)

    Nobunaga's Ambition (CIB)
    Double Dragon V (CIB)
Battletoads Double Dragon (boxed, missing manual)

    Earthbound (CIB) WOW!!!!!

You've gotta be kidding... Early candidate for coolest find of the month.

A neighboring town is having their annual city-wide yard sale. You typically have to pay a $5 fee for a two day yard sale permit (believe that would ya); however, this weekend, the city waives the fee... Anyway, I found a boxload of commonoish NES stuff for $20 firm:

Most notable inclusion was the unlicensed Micro Machines and this Action 52 cart with Active Enterprises, LTD stamped on the back. Was also given this ultra-cool Xbox pistol grip controller by a buddy who runs a local game shop:

Edit: just checked the online rarity guide and it looks like the Action 52 is listed as an R7...My first. Good day after all I s'pose.

    And the hunt never ends.

I'm almost embarrassed to post my stuff:
PSX stuff was all 35, GCN games were $5 each, Genesis/SMS stuff was $9 (pic is kinda lousy... That's Ultimate Qix and R-type).

Grim Fandango and Monkey Island were 2.50 each, Nintendo stuff was all for $25, and the rest all came to $20 at goodwill.

anyone think there is any chance to get the Blockbuster tape off the Paper Mario Cart?

    (Homer Simpson-like voice) MMMMMMMM...EarthBound...

Anyway, I didn't find anything except for a PSone that I passed on because the guy running the sale was an idiot (He wouldn't budge on the price ($10), even though it was missing the AC Adapter. He kept claiming they are selling like hotcakes on eBay)

    Congrats on finding Action 52.

    HOWEVER.

Test the game. Why? Well, Cheetahmen came in exactly the same case as Action 52, right down to the print on the cart. The only difference was that it had a sticker that said Cheetahmen (and the letters on the circuit board said Cheetahmen). Make sure it's that game.

I'll post my week's findings later today.

Your best bet with those blue labels is to take off the ink on the label with goo gone or some other solvent. You'll be left with a clear label, and if you trim it off to the size of the paper label it'll be almost invisible. Any time I've tried to take off the entire blue Blockbuster label, it has damaged the paper label underneath...good luck,

Thanks! I really didn't want to experiment on this particular game. I wouldn't have thought the blue would come off, so that is good to know. I'm afraid there is one of those metal strips under there, too, so I'll have to figure what to do about that, too.

Huh. Not even the classic hairdryer on a sticker trick works with those?

    Where do I start...

So, last Wednesday... I was sick. I woke up to find out I had a fever. A REALLY bad fever. But I still went to the flea market. I stumbled upon mom there, who was a godsend... if it wasn't for her, I would've never been able to take all of this stuff home.

I found a bunch of sealed Adobe software for the mac for $45 after a bit of haggling. That same booth had a lot of NES stuff for $30. Lots of games, lots of pads, and a system. I left mom to wait for me so the stuff could stay on hold while I went to a nearby market to get the money off an ATM.

I hobbled back with the $30 and we took all the stuff to her car. I wandered around for a while longer then we went to her house, where I got REALLY sick - I stopped sweating, my temperature would NOT go down, so she drove me home and stayed with me for a day, until I got a bit better.

    Anyway, here's the pictures.

NES Deck, two pads, zapper, AC adaptor, A/V cables.

Wico Command Control Joystick (christ this thing SUCKS), an Acclaim remote controller and a Quickshot remote controller. (I haven't tested these two yet.)

Edit: The Acclaim one works pretty well, but the buttons and pad are a bit stiff. But the Quickshot one doesn't seem to work.

Battletoads boxed with manual near mint, Ghosts 'N Goblins with crushed box and manual, Nemo with box and manual, Mach Rider with box and manual

Alien 3 with box and manual, Section Z with box and manual, Gumshoe with box and manual, California games with box and manual, 1942 with box.

Rad Racer, Gradius, Short Order / Eggsplode (with manual), Stealth ATF
Super Mario Bros. 3 (was inside the deck), Contra with manual, Ninja Gaiden, Stinger with manual
Ice Climber, Super Mario Bros., Urban Champion

And all those boxes and manuals. Some of the boxes are in really awful shape, and the Kung Fu manual has the manual for Bad Dudes taped to its back! &@#$&@#$

All for $30. Ah-woot. Most of it's for trade or sale, especially those pads, once I test them. The Wico one sucks balls, though, I can't understand how people can PLAY using that monstrosity.

Oh and today I got this, too:

It's in good condition. The art inside is horrifying, but it's in great shape, just a bit warped. It's up for trade, too.

I had/have considered this, but my gut tells me it won't work. This tape seems to mean business based on the sections on plastic I've messed with.

That Ultimate Qix is bad ass! That there alone is a huge plus.

Today I picked up some records but for games:
    Genesis:
    Bio Hazard Battle
    Trouble Shooter

Both CIB, great condition and $3 each.
