If they give you *any* flack about returning the controller you could make the district manager's life very miserable by calling microsoft and telling them what happened.

The controller doesn't even meet microsoft's requirements for safety. Not only is the cord too short (we're talking roughly 4 ft), but it doesn't have the quick disconnect at the end. This is all assuming that the controller isn't just a firehazard waiting to happen. I'm half afraid to open it up...
Agreed. From what I know about manufacturer/store relationships. MS will throw a SHIT-FIT. Especially if this is a wider problem. The DM would lose his job overnight.

    GUYS.

    GUYS.

    First things first. Relax.

    Now ask important question:

Was it a GAME STOP REFURB or a MICROSOFT REFURB?

    Two different things.

A microsoft refurb would not have come with a retail sealed accessory. They're boxed like retial new units.

A Game Stop refurb (white box with black and white printing) is a system refurbished at Game Stop. $79.99, I'm assuming this is what you bought.

It also means they can put whatever they want in the box. Usually it's a Microsoft Large, S, or Mad Catz / Pelican brand. Odd choice in that one. Looks like the same controller type from the company who does those knock-off PS2 ones in the yellow packaging.

Now, if you would like a VERY SMOOTH transaction, all you need to do is the following:

    1. Just bring it back with your receipt, NICELY explain you bought the refurb and it had that controller, and would prefer to have a actual Microsoft S controller. Any employee worth their name tag would just go in the back, open one of the used decks and gladly swap out the controller.

The employee didn't put it there.

The DM didn't put it there.

Don't crucify someone for something they had nothing to do with. It makes both of our lives that less cranky.

    JFHC.

Someone stop the sale on torches already.
