I bought the MSA shortly after it was released and I think it's a great port. No, not all of the control schemes are good but there are a couple that I like playing the game with. Would be nice to try it out with at Wii Arcade Stick though.

I ended up picking up the game after browsing through this thread a couple of weeks ago. Definitely a great purchase under $20 (and I paid $40 for it).
I'd say PS2 for sure on this one. Mainly because you have many more control options on the PS2 + the added bonus of a regular PS2 controller if you don't want to get a hardcore arcade stick to play it.
Where did you find the Wii version for $17.50? I've only seen it new for its original price, and I've only seen it used once, for $35.

If you like Metal Slug, than Metal Slug Anthology is well worth the $20. I bought the Playstation 2 verision, but my brother just got the Wii version a week or so ago. Personally, I like playing it more using a Gamecube controller, rather than the Wii controller.
Where on earth did you get the PSP version for $20?
I got the PS2 version on release day, but ever since getting a PSP slim, I've been itching for some Slugs on the go. Problem is, the PSP version seems to have disappeared as quickly as the PS2 version did from store shelves.
I just bought Metal Slug 4 & 5 on the PS2...I thought it was on 1 Disk..it's on 2
I just found a stash of like 4 of these new for the PS2, think I may go pick them up...

Does anybody know if the Hori Arcade Stick is compatible with this game or is it completely useless for anything except downloaded games and Guilty Gear Accent Core?
Currently catching up on PSN, WiiWare, Wii U E-Shop and Xbox Live Arcade exclusives I missed.
I'm going to buck convention and say buy the PSP version.
It looks and plays awesome on the PSP's beautiful widescreen.
Who needs TV sets or monitors. You can have Metal Slug on the go ... or on the toilet!

Dear SNK-P:
Stop being asshats. You've released three games with a $15 MSRP. A fourth one is coming up. Yet you don't want to reprint Metal Slug Anthology at the lower price.
Lower the price already.

If anyone is feeling masochistic, Circuit City just put the Wii version of MSA on clearance for $16.96. I would've picked it up for that price, but I already own the superior (ahem) PS2 version.

Why? Metal Slug is one of their most popular franchises and last I checked the old Art Of Fighting and Fatal Fury collections had half the titles that Slug Anthology had. Art has 3 and Fatal Fury has 4 where Slug has 7. And releasing KoF XI at 15 is nothing special. Its one game in a series thats well past its prime, that gets little exposure here now that arcades are almost all gone and wouldn't have released at all if it wasn't for Sony having dropped the licensing rates down to nothing for PS2 releases.
Besides when they push more of these titles onto the Wii VC they will end up being more expensive per title, than if you bought the pack.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.
