Hey everyone. Hope you're enjoying your Sunday night. I'm currently watching the Bears lose to the Cowboys. But, it's not over yet...we're only down by 7. Aw, shit, who am I kidding? It's over, Grossman is QB.

Anyways, I've been brainstorming a LOT in the past few weeks. And, for those of you that know me know that I talk a lot about the game business, the state of my generation (I'm 27) and the message the consumer has sent the game industry in the market.

What's the message? Price Is King. Period.

I love the Wii, but it would be doing jack shit sales wise if it weren't for its fantastic buy-in price? I don't think it would be. And, that combined with $60 new games and very expensive consoles make it damn near impossible to afford and play everything you might want. I've noticed this trend even on the DP boards and have experienced it myself firsthand. Trading games to GameStop or other retailers often is people's ONLY choice to get rid of their games. But why is that? It's because that's the ONLY business model that the average consumer is aware of. So, it got me to thinking...

Shouldn't this change?
How can this change? And, more importantly...
What would I want?

Well, long story short, I think I've figured it out...kinda. It has to start small, and I don't want to "give" all my ideas away on a board (as this could potentially be stupid) but I need your help.

ESPECIALLY Chicago people. I need Chicago people. Because, if this works like I think it would, things are going to start right here. I'll just say I'm initiating a new association. Before you say anything, or jump on me for details, please realize that I'm using this thread exclusively to find:

Smart, Dedicated and Personable Dedicated Hardcore Gamers in Chicago or near Chicago.

This is not a "business proposal" and I'm not selling anything -- I promise. I'll just say I'm looking to initiate the Chicago Chapter. But, if you're in the same age bracket as me and totally sick of how gamers are treated (in public and by the game companies) I think you'll absolutely love what I'm thinking about. More details to come as things develop!!

Absolutely agreed. However, we need the founders of this group to not be in the 15-16 year age bracket to ensure everything works as planned. I'm looking for 5-6 dedicated people who can be the founders of this association. There will be roles, meetings etc.

I'm not excluding younger people at all. I just want to make sure this gets off the ground. I've replied to all PM's so far.

Funny you mention the kool-aid, as that's a perfect example of what I'm looking to avoid: people that DON'T think out of the box. Sounds like you might have had a little too much yourself.
