I think that's just the four-volume Ys anime, and not a video game. The series is currently being released over here by Media Blasters.

    Default Wow!

That's cool, Thanks! The seller defined it as a game, so I was like, wtf? What really threw me was that it was a laserdisc (and from the looks of it, some kind of box set, or 4 seperate items - vol 1-4, can't really tell). No one makes LDs anymore, I thought...Anyone know how old these might be?

Laserdiscs are still manufactured. They're hard to find in stores but many new movies are still made on them.

As I understand it, laserdiscs were much bigger in Japan than they were in America, and it was only a few years ago that DVDs took over completely. Hence, you can find a lot of imported anime laserdiscs on the cheap.

I think that the Ys OAV series was released in the early 1990s. I've never seen it, but it's supposedly pretty mediocre, especially when compared to the games.

Yeah, that's definitely what the auction is for. I picked up the first volume Ys I DVD a little while ago and I'm not enjoying it as much as I did as a fansub a few years ago. It just isn't as good as I remembered. Then again, the later episodes might be better. Plus part of what is what hindering my enjoyment is probably the completely retarded romanization and crappily tacked in, cheezy looking English credits.
