Dreamcast makes screeching noise?

I just bought a used dreamcast and noticed that while playing it, it sometimes makes a high pitched screeching noise. Now I know the dreamcast is loud, but is this screeching noise normal?

Other than that, how do the discs look after you've played them? Any grooves or scratches? If it's not that, it may be the spinning mechanism...or, if the DC has a fan, it could be in serious need of a lube job.

If your playing a burned game it will do it at the begining of the game. It hurts my ears sometime but i ignore it. i doubt it is something ungodly wrong with it. Mostly it will do it to American dreamcast. your dreamcast is getting old. there is nothing really wrong with it. all i can say is take good care of it.
