Default NEC Multisync XM29 Plus - anyone try RGB on this monitor?

A buddy of mine picked up one of these a little while ago off craigslist. He's been using it for Dreamcast via it's VGA port. I recently got a huge collection of RGB cables for old school systems to work with my VGA monitor, which is a Sony PVM-2530. I have included a picture of the back of the XM29 Plus. As you can see in the area marked RGB1 (sorry the flash kinda makes this area a bit bright), there is a VGA port, and underneath a 15-pin RGB port. According to the manual, this monitor is compatible with PC's and Macs (old Mac monitors do have the 15-pin RGB cable which is the same shape and style as an old PC gamepad connector). Also the manual states that it has a wide range of frequencies including 15khz.

anyone with this monitor have experience using it for RGB?

Its nothing against you eastbay... there is some internet drama regarding a DP member, hes a big RGB fan, like fanatic rgb fan and he just took his ball and went home.

I dont have much to contribute to the RGB discussion because I like my plain old composite, s-video, component, and HDMI stuff. Sorry.

If it can sync to 15kHz, then it will serve as an RGB monitor for consoles.

I have a Multisync 4PG myself, which I think is the predecessor to the XM29, and it works great with just about any inputs. That's what the Multisyncs are famous for. Mine can do 15kHz RGB on either of the RGB inputs, though I use the BNC connections since I find it's easier to make cables with BNC plugs than 15-pin DSUB.

Here's another tip for your friend, too: you can plug things into the "OUT" jacks without causing any image problems or anything (as long as only one source is actually turned on at a time, that is), so these things actually have twice as many inputs as it looks, which is why I have no need for a switchbox.

    ...word is bondage...
