After looking at a bunch of these posts, I don't think have a single rare item. I don't own a single prototype. Everything I have was officially manufactured and put either in an online store or B&M.

I have Decathalon & Footie for 3DO, Lost & Found 2 + 3 for SS and Pokemon Box US brand new and still sealed for the GameCube. I also have Sonic Adventure LE for US Dreamcast. That's about as rare as it gets for me.

I have plenty of sealed and MINT (I don't own a single game that doesn't look like new) for an array of systems, but I don't think anything is particularly rare or hard to find.

According to the guide on this very site, my rarest item is my complete copy of Psychic Detective for the PS1 (R8).

    My rarest items are:

Bumper Bash, for the Atari 2600

Then there is a complete Gizmondo, with loads of press stuff, as well as the demo card and its launch titles, like Sticky Balls, SSX3, Fathammer Classics, POD: Point of Destruction, Interstellar Flames 2, Trailblazer, Pocket Ping Pong, FIFA 2005, and Classic Compendium. It's actually a very nice collection, thanks to the combined efforts of a load of press stuff I picked up at E3 05 and the GREATEST XMAS PRESENT I EVER RECEIVED, from a journalist pal who had been given a complete Gizmondo in-box with tons of games for review. You can find a Gizmondo for cheap on eBay, but as we get farther from 2006 it's tough to find it with all the fixin's.

My rarest item is a Prototype controller for the prototype SNES CD-ROM drive that was the predecessor for the Playstation. I don't know how many exist out there, but I imagine that it is probably rarer than NWC.

    Pics please.

My rarest item would probably be either Mean 18 for the 7800 or a Snake Rattle N Roll store demo.

Um, wow, that thing looks clunky.

How did you stumble upon it and how much did it cost?

Actually, what you have there is the controller from an early Playstation post-Nintendo version development system. Here's a link for the box that thing actually hooked up to. Neat, but not a prototype controller from the SNES CD-Rom unfortunately.

I don't know where his controller came from but the 2 pictures from the playstationmuseum website are from my auction. My auction had a controller which came directly from a Sony employee and I was told the controller I was given came from the SNESCD dev kit.

Could be the SNESCD and the PS1 dev kits ued the same controllers I dunno.

I got mine from a Sony contractor who stated that this was from the SNES CD Development kit, before the project was scrapped. It is possible that when Sony turned from SNES CD development to Playstation development that they kept some of the same hardware instead of reinventing everything from scratch.

I think my Japan Pro Golf Tour for the 64DD is now my rarest item. I had my Bandai Vectrex listed before. There's gotta be fewer Japan Golf Tours than Bandai Vectrexes (even though it's listed as an R10 - no way is it an R10, though).

Oh well, maybe I'll get something actually unique one day and that'll settle the argument.

I know one other guy in the business that has one. I have switched directions and don't collect this type of item anymore. If anyone here wants to try and take a stab at it let me know and I'll connect you. My PM box is full. Hit me at buyatari AT aol DOT com. I believe he also has some paperwork that goes along with it.

Of course that's what probably happened, but that begs of the question of how you know yours is from a SNES CD Development kit as opposed to a later version of the development kit as pictured in the link. The devices look identical. My understanding is that the SNES CD versions didn't have the numbering sticker with the DTL coding on them as that didn't come along until mid-1994.

Yes, the bottom two pictures were from your auction, but the top picture showing the controller connected to the later Playstation dev kit is legit based on what I know. Unless someone has parts with manufacturing dates on them, my understanding is that hundreds of these controllers were produced for the later Playstation dev kits. My understanding is that the SNES CD dev kit versions did not have the DTL designation code on the sticker underneath as this numbering/part tracking scheme wasn't developed by Sony's logistics team until mid-1994 when the later kits were distributed.
