Dear Xbox LIVE Members:



During this past holiday season you helped us break a number of Xbox LIVE records. This included our largest sign-up of new members to Xbox LIVE in our 5 year history and just yesterday you broke the record for the single biggest day of concurrent members ever on the service.



As a result of this massive increase in usage we know that some of you experienced intermittent Xbox LIVE issues over the holiday break. While the service was not completely offline at any given time, we are disappointed in our performance. I would like to take this moment to thank you each and every one of you for your patience and understanding as our team has worked around the clock to return the service to a stable state.



At the same time we would like to offer a token of our appreciation to all of you in celebration of record success for the service. And as a thank you for your loyalty during this holiday period, we will be offering all of our Xbox LIVE members around the world access to a full Xbox LIVE Arcade game that will be available to download free of charge. In the coming weeks we will be sharing the specific details of this offer with you.

Let's hope that it's a new title or that we get to select one, not some predetermined crap-since not everyone will be able to take part if they've already purchased.

I would prefer a credit of points instead of a game, only because I have all the XBLA games.

I hope they just credit 800 points instead, I already have 12 or 13 XBLA Games, And you could have guessed that I have worms, uno and robotron. I don't have joust, Frogger or pac man though. But I'd rather have a choice of what i want to buy.

And those who already own the game are shit outta luck. Therefore, count me extrordinarily pissed off since I'm still having issues with XBLA, and I bought Undertow the day it was released.

BAD move, MS.

Anyone here that already does own the game, I suggest we bombard MS customer service for this pathetic excuse for an "apology".

BTW - I'm not saying the game is bad... It's kind of a cross between Geometry Wars and any Battlefield game, make it 2-D, and set it underwater. It just pisses me off that MS didn't take into consideration that people already own this game, and those that do get shafted.

I called Microsoft and within 10 minutes I had 800 points credited to my account to use as I please. So as I see it, I made out better then the people that don't have the game.

Seriously, just call, even though the game offer isn't out yet they are already giving people credit.

What if your console is currently at a repair center like mine. If I dont receive it back in time for this free game do you think I would still be able to call and get MS points?

That's my problem as well, My 360 is gone and I don't expect to get it for the next month or so.

I am going to call MS and see what they can do though.

This is also my situation. If I miss out on my free stuff for the problems that I had for the brief amount of time I had my replacement 360 (got it on Christmas Eve and had problems right away), M$ can fuck right off.

I think it is a bad approach for the obvious reasons of people waiting to get back their systems, and the fact that many have bought the game, you guys rightfully should be pissed. The point credit would be much fairer, and just credit every account. None of this bullshit of a limited time to download, there will be many others who may not be aware and miss out on the download as well.

Shame on you MS for trying to cheap out in these ways.
