Default What is the rarest game (non proto) for the Atari 2600?

I asked this before when we still had EZboard... so anyway- what is it in your opinion?
I remember a few people said Mangia for the 2600- but no one knew if it really existed. There was some argument about Video Life not being the rarest- so if you eliminate Mangia (just for the sake- since it's questionable).. then whats the rarest?
    remember- no protos!

It's got to be close, between Eli's Ladder, Video Life, Gauntlet and Magicard.

A lot of people say Chase the Chuckwagon, but its not extremely rare.
Somebody once told me to get a life.

I told them I sold it for money to buy video games.

Oh yes, definitely add Air Raid to that list! I've NEVER seen one of those "in person".

If it's true about Video life only being available to people who bought the Magicard, then that would definately make Video Life's rarity higher than Magicards.

That may have been true back in the day, but keep in mind that such rules are dispelled once inventories are released to the wild. I would say that I've seen "real" Magicards half as often as Video Life.

Based upon my own experience, my top-5 would look like this:

    1. Air Raid
    2. Gauntlet
    3. Video Life
    4. Eli's Ladder
    5. Magicard

But when reading this thread it suddenly occurred to me that it is rather typical that there would be only NTSC games in the top-5 of rare games. You Americans really dominate the world huh?

The above games are for sure the most valuable games in the 2600 realm, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're also the rarest. There are many rare PAL oddities out there, but we will probably never find out just how rare they actually are. I mean, I know of a dozen people that own Video Life, but I know only one person that owns the Thai Atari 2600 game called "God".

Ah well, you just gotta love the marvel of the unanswerable question of Atari 2600 rarity

    Cheers,

    Marco

I'm surprised no on'e mentioned Quadrun. I was under the impression that it was a rare game.

In 2002 alone there may have been close to 20 Quadruns on eBay. Defenitely not one of the ultra-rares, though still one of the most desireables 8)

    Cheers,

    Marco

Seems to me like it's gotta be Air Raid. From my un-scientific research, it seems like few of the really big time collectors even have a copy of that one.

Which leads me to, who owns a copy of Air Raid? (Assuming they'd be willing to admit to it.)

    !

Yeah, I always get that "find" confused with all his others. Didn't he buy a dozen of those at KB back in the day, or was that Quadrun?

    BUT SERIOUSLY!!!!!

I just thought of another one. I know from reading all Ward Shrake's Arcadia 2001 stuff that someone owns an actual Cat Trax cart. I've always been intrigued by that one. It's a foreign release of mysterious origin, but assuming it's not a proto, it is a one of a kind. The only other place the Cat Trax rom has shown up was in a 128 games built in system, I believe.
