XBox 360 EA games freezing (specifically NCAA 08 FB)

Hello all. My cousin has the bare bones no hard drive 360, and bought NCAA Football new. Now he says it just freezes when entering gameplay. I've done googling, and there seem to be many references to EA titles crashing on the 360, but not many solutions. Some said to force the system to due some type of maintenance, while others said to hold down the B button while the system is loading to clear the cache. EA apparently won't respond to anyone. Does anybody out there know what to do to fix his problem? (this is why I haven't bought any new consoles, ha ha) Thanks.

I own both Need for Speed: MW and Carbon, and Fight Night Rnd 3, for 360. I've played them both on a 360 that eventually went on to get the RRoD. Never did I experience any problems with any of those titles.

well since we can rule the harddrive out on this one id have about 1 pretty sure guess its probably the optical drive as i understand they're a little on the flakey side. that combined with a few specific minute scratches could be the culprit. then again don't quote me on this as i dont have a ton of experience diagnosing 360s yet.

Never had a bit of trouble with any EA game in my machines-both of them. Even the one that went belly-up ran them with no problems.

My Madden 08 freezes about once every 20 times I play it, and it happens at start up.
