Default Just got a Wii...how long till it gets boring

I just bought a Wii, i was going to put it up on ebay but my wife wants to keep it. i keep telling her that i only see non-gamers play the wii sports for a month or two and then it sits and collects dust. is there any other games that she would be interested in?

Um, Super Mario Galaxy? Coming in March (or April, or August) will be Super Smash Brothers Brawl. And Zelda: Twilight Princess? You can always download some classic games too.

I know there are a bunch of downloadable puzzle games on the virtual console. Also I hear Endless Ocean is a simple game of exploration although I haven't tried it, that seems to be something to look into.

There are several collections of mini-games out there. Check out Carnival Games, WarioWare and Rayman Raving Rabbids 1 and 2, she'll probably get a kick out of those. She may also be interested in Cooking Mama and the two Trauma Center games.

My girlfriend is a non-gamer, but shes nuts for cooking mama on the DS. I'm guessing if the Wii version is anything like the ds game, then she may enjoy it!

I'd say Wii Fit will be the next good title for her.

Its not to bad. I've thought about and nearly sold it three times since I bought it six months ago but something always gets my attention. Virtual console is great and I've played about 6 good games on it. I'm looking at selling it this week but am not sure cause I kinda wanna get no more heroes and smash bros.....

Never had a copy of wii sports but I may buy wii fit so I can get off my treadmill a bit

For me it took about 10 hours. I'm sure I would pick it up again now and then, but if I were to have bought one, 10 hours would have been the point where I said "crap".

I say give it two weeks. Wii Sports is surprisingly fun, but then, it's all gimmicky from there...
Currently catching up on PSN, WiiWare, Wii U E-Shop and Xbox Live Arcade exclusives I missed.

Make sure you read the two lists in this thread: Top 30 and Bottom 30 Wii Games That way, you know which Wii games are great and which are complete wastes of money.

Some popular ones you both might like are:

    Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
    Rayman Raving Rabbids
    Super Mario Galaxy
    Wario Ware: Smooth Moves
    Wii Play

Also try Endless Ocean and Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure. They're only $30 each. Wii Fit is coming in a few months, too. That's going to be huge.

Actually, according to this article on IGN.com, the average Wii owner currently owns about five games, not just Wii Sports.

My Wii collects dust for the most part, but every now and then something cool comes along and it's nice to have a system handy.

    Default hmmm...

It is backwards compatible with the Gamecube you know. Could you buy some of those and convince her they are Wii games??

I'll throw in another nod for Zack and Wiki. It is a great game for the price.

another reason for my concern is that my brother who is a freshmen is high school got one for christmas last year, loved it for about a month and a half and then stop playing it all together. my other brother got a 360 at the same time and now he plays that now, and doesnt touch the wii. the virtual console is a great idea, but for me, it is useless, i have over 20 systems and 2000 retro games...

There was a dip of a few months last year when the Wii releases were slow, but honestly, there have been quality games from Nov. 06 to Feb. 07 and again from July 07 to present.

    Launch titles that were good:
    ExciteTruck (underappreciated gem)
    Zelda
    Wii Sports
    Trauma Center: Second Opinion
    Rayman Raving Rabbids
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz (not the minigames, though)
    WarioWare: Smooth Moves

    Summer to present picks:
    Super Mario Galaxy
    Metroid Prime 3
    Super Mario Strikers: Charged
    Endless Ocean
    No More Heroes
    Zack and Wiki
Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition (astonishing)
    Battalion Wars 2
    Fire Emblem

Too easy to dismiss this system. "Hardcore gamers" that do simply don't know what's available for it or haven't played it. This is a great lineup -- somewhat obscured by the tidal wave of licensed crap that fills the Wii game bins. Just do a bit of research, and the game library is impressive.

Wario Ware for sure, Big Brain Academy, Marble Mania and DDR would be good to. I don't think it would get boring fast, especially with the many mini game games that keep coming.
