    found it at gamestop for 2 bucks. couldnt resist, ive never seen anything like this before, anyone know about it? history etc...

    If I'm not mistaken, it looks like a circuit breaker plug that you'd see on modern hair dryers and such.

    I'd say that'd be a xbox system plug for your demo unit.

    thats the power cord microsoft sent out to replace the original power cord for the xbox.they had a big recall on the original cord years ago.
    do not buy/get system repair from martin krohn aka iamnotageek.com

    is it common? ive never seen this cord before, anywhere.

    also, is it worth using this for other hardware? or even the xbox? or is it pretty much the same crap.

    While I don't dispute you and all the posters who've confirmed this... I think I got the shitty end of the deal. I also was sent a replacement cord by Microsoft- but mine was just like the original cord that came with the unit, with the addition of a ferrite core. Until now, I have never seen this version of the power cord.
