Default Is there a permanent way to fix Atari paddles?

I know you can spray TV tuner cleaner and spray them with air to clean them, but they jitter again after a short while and it seems less likely to work again. Is there anyway to fix them more reliably and permanently?
If they made a movie out of your top five worst sins, what would it be rated?

Pry the pots completely apart, clean them out and re-assemble. Time consuming, but works, should last for years.
