Ok I tested the untranslated rom, seems you still can't go to areas 18-20 right away (maybe after you learn to greet people?)

Is there some trigger message she gives after seeing 5-6 movies, or just go? Also, how many times do I have do do Gante's before getting paid (I read the pilot's manual already).

Yeah, it can get a little annoying. The sequel did away with that. You never have to "unlearn" anything. Although, there's one or two parts where you have to teach Josette the wrong thing to do in order to make the story progress until you're supposed to teach her the correct thing.

Additionally, I just picked up this book. Anyone have a copy?
I do (predictably, heh). It's a really terrific book and lives up to its title of "fan book". It's loaded with art and sketches of nearly every single character in the entire game, and it's even got tons of prototype sketches as well. Lots of cool info too, but if you're fluent in Japanese, I'm sure you'll get way more out of the text that I can. I especially love the section about merchandise since I collect everything and anything related to the series. Beyond this book and the games, I got the strategy guides for both, a couple manga, a couple magazines with WPJ2 covers (and coverage, of course), a complete manufacturer's box for WPJ2, and who knows what I may be forgetting. There's very few goods out there related to the series, so I'm lucky if I'm able to come across a new item for my collection every year or two.

SUCCESS!! The game finally let me finish the tasks involving Gante and starting the path for the movie auditions! So now I can finally get up to those last 3 areas of the island- already taught her to sing, Aarnold's running around (that's one ugly coat), and other paths to achievements are now open.

And what's with the old guy in the alley...?
