    Default Gamecube read errors

So I've been playing Zelda Twilight Princess on my Gamecube lately... last night, I got a message on the screen saying that I got an "unexpected error" - this error wouldn't even let me reset the system, that's how bad it was. I was going to fight a white wolf or something and then the system crashed.

I took out the game disc (Zelda Twilight Princess) and wiped it a bit, since it was a bit dirty. It has a few scratches but nothing too major. I then went to bed.

I tried playing the system again today and I got past that point, but once I won that battle and left for another area, I got a "The game disc could not be read" error.

So uh, how exactly can I fix this? Is the lens dirty or is my Gamecube crapping out? I bought this thing at Gamestop a few months ago so the warranty's expired by now. Help?

    Edit:
No, wait, it's dead, Jim. This same error happened with another game. Bloody hell.

Guess I need a replacement system... dammit! All I wanted to do was play Charlie's Angels!

it aint dead. it just needs a laser tweak. it's a temp fix but it'll get it working for at least a bit longer. if worse comes to worse you can just fork out around 30$ for another cube (they are getting cheap around here lol)

They cost $60 down here at any store that isn't a Gamestop. Remember? Border dweller?

my gamecube went through hell and never complained... maybe the late versions were made poorer.
try cleaning the lense with a Q-tip.. it could just be dust.

    Isn't that, well, dangerous?

Also I went around and asked people at the flea market for their prices on used systems... one guy wanted $120 for a GC without cables and a GB Player included. Buncha nutcases...

Cleaning a laser lens with a Q-Tip is far from dangerous, as long as you don't push drastically hard...

I wet a q-tip, slightly dry it with a paper towel so it's not too wet, and just wipe the lens, then dry it off with the dry end of the q-tip.

You find all these things for next to nothing and you can't come across a cheap gamecube? You must not be trying at all. Good luck with finding one at a cheap price. I'm sure you can.

What can I say? Mexican sellers are stupid. I also stumbled upon a $20 PSOne system. Loose. Oh and those $40 PlayStation systems without hookups weren't too shabby either. And what about that $15 Super Mario / Duck Hunt that's been in the same booth for so long the label is almost completely white from the sun?

Ugh. Most of the stuff I find is cheap because people don't know what they are. But anything with Microsoft, Sony, Sega or Nintendo (especially Nintendo) is valuable.

    Edit:
And before anyone yells at me, I'm Mexican, I can call other sellers stupid. :P
