looks neat, I wonder how good the DS version will be as I despise PC gaming. I will they'd try and do some of these atleast on a console. I would think a PS3 or Xbox 360 could run Sim city 4 or something. I love Will Wright's games, but the PC thing turns me off.

Still not interested in Spore, but would definitely be interested in something like Sim City 4 on my 360.

I think Spore wouldn't get as much negative flack for the time it's taken to come out, if they just hadn't announced it so early. If they announced it in, like, late 2006, people wouldn't be as impatient. I think they announced it in early 2005, which was probably misleading to how far along they were in the development process.

Don't care if they announced it in early 1993. I want.

Consider this interview with Will Wright:

    http://wii.ign.com/articles/724/724539p1.html

"We're focusing solely on the PC version at the moment, but we're thinking of Spore as a franchise, definitely, that will be across all platforms. Cellphones, too.

There are definitely things that work better on PCs than consoles. We might focus on certain aspects of the game for each version. The editors are a very big part of the game, but maybe it's difficult to navigate through them on a console. There are some things you really want to do with a mouse.

We've been messing around with the Wii dev kit and we're really interested in the possibilities there. It's possible the editors might be more manageable on that system. The DS is also very interesting to us, as its control scheme could be very manageable for the game."

    Here's another good interview:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology.../26/willwright

"Somebody asked me what I thought 'next generation' meant and what about the PlayStation 3 was 'next generation.' The only next gen system I've seen is the Wii. The PS3 and the Xbox 360 feel like better versions of the last, but pretty much the same game with incremental improvement.

But the Wii feels like a major jump – not that the graphics are more powerful, but that it hits a completely different demographic. In some sense, I see the Wii as the most significant thing that's happened, at least on the console side, in quite a while.

We've got an Xbox 360 collecting dust in the background, a Wii hooked up that we use quite a bit.

We're doing Spore on the Wii, and we did MySims. It takes signifcant re-thinking to work out how you're going to do it. PS3 and Xbox 360 are similar enough that you can basically use the same system for both. So it comes down to what the interesting major platforms are and which markets we want to hit."

It seems like Spore is coming to the Wii after all.

that would be cool, but I would hope the sim elements wouldn't have to be watered down. Games like Sim City 4 and such historically take a lot of processing power and I don't know how well a wii could handle a complex sim game. That's why I had suggested the PS3 or Xbox 360.

The 360 and PS3 don't exactly have a stellar track record when it comes to handling complex sim games either. Remember Supreme Commander? Battle for Middle Earth?

You're acting like the Wii is on the same level as a pocket calculator. The Wii isn't quite as powerful as the Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3, but it's still a very capable machine.

    IGN - Spore Update

February 12, 2008 - Today it was announced that Spore will be released on September 7, 2008, on PC, Mac, Nintendo DS, and mobile platforms. But what about Wii?

IGN: What about the Wii version? When might we hear more about that?

Executive Producer Lucy Bradshaw: I know we made mention of the fact that we're exploring other platforms and we'll certainly be doing that. We don't have any details for you right now on any of that.

    Yay Mac!

My PC is a piece of shit internet terminal. Don't know why, my graphics card just spontaniously decided that it didn't want to support games anymore. The same games it used to run fine. Stupid computer.

Is anyone else amazed at all the mediocre reviews it's getting?

Sure, this spore may have managed to get a date, but I doubt the relationship will last.

Oh, and hey! Maybe I can catch this chick on the rebound. I bet an honest to God human being like myself would look pretty damned good after a couple dates with some reproductive organism that's barely even a life form.

Not really. It's a very specific kind of game that appeals to a very specific type of gamer. If you're not into creating creatures or dealing with the type of stuff that made the Sims popular with a certain group of gamers, you won't like Spore. If you do like those kinds of games, chances are you'll really enjoy Spore.

So far, aren't the majority of ratings in the 8.5 range?
