Default Game Value different on book form of collectors guide?

Or if im ONLY looking for the value of my games is using this online rarity guide just fine?

How accurate are these prices anyways? according to DP my copy of Rival Schools for playstation is only worth $15, whereas several online stores and places like Game Dude have it listed at upwards of 40 bucks... I have tried using ebay but its near impossible because its a pain to keep track of bids and sometimes they go too high, sometimes too cheap, its just to inconsistent...

Ebay is an art form my friend :P - its inconsistent because theres always so many copies up for sale. If a few people are really itching to buy the game and theres 50 up for sale then they will sell very cheap - if theres 20 up for sale they will get higher bids and if theres 2 for sale there will be even more bids. I wouldn't trust a lot of websites who post games like Rival Schools for $40....I could go down to my local flea market and pick up a copy of rival schools from Game Craze in mint for around $12 if I wanted to. I know a few people who run mom and pop stores and a few tell me they price older games on how hard they are to come by, now I can't exactly say thats the way most people do things but I'm guessing a lot of them do and/or their idea of rare is skewed.

what i do is go too about 4 sites, take the total of the games worth on each site and divide by 4 that will give you some kind of ave price.....

what kind of sites if you dont mind me asking? thanks for the replies!

Im not wondering the value for selling the game, as i have no intention of ever selling any of my collection, but using this database software meant specifically for catalogging videogames, im gonna print out this binder with a page for each game with all the information like serial number, release date etc, and it would be cool to have an "estimated" value on there, if not only for the simple reason i would feel justified spending this money on ebay haha
